Well that did absolutely nothing still looks the same

Well that is confusing. Until Joe chimes in, I would try one more thing. Put your tongue on the prongs just to see if there is power at the connection. You might feel a small tingle or jolt. That would be a sign there is power.
Joe likely has more advice too.

I'm no electrician, but I'd definitely try to tongue it! if that doesn't work, use the water.
