The Official 2nd Amendment Appreciation Thread

Just got me and my wife's new guns. Wanted to share, It's not everyone's cup of tea but we like them.

Mine is a Uberti 1858 New Army Conversion. It's a .45 LC, you can also get the black powder Cylinder for it.
Since I already have a few black powder guns I'll probably stay away from getting one.

My wife seen this and had to have it for no other reason then how it looks.
It does shoot good though.
Its a Traditions Frontier 1873 Single Action Revolver Liberty Model, It also fires .45LC

Picked up this Marlin 1895 cowboy 45/70 made in 2001 yesterday on gunbroker. Should get here next week or so. 22” barrel it also has the happy trigger from Wild West guns and a few other touches. Pretty excited. I’m going to cast up a ton of bullets till it gets here.

Very nice. I have a newer production example of the same model. The wood furniture on yours looks nice and that peep sight is a nice addition.

Thanks. I have always wanted an older marlin 1895. I had a 1895sbl but let it get away.

It’s crazy to me to call a 2001 produced marlin an “older” rifle. Next year will be 20 years... where does the time go?

I actually knew what you were talking about.
I miss Grand. I wish he’d start posting again.

He's still out there. May be watching. I stay in contact with him. Like me, he's an old dog, and tires easily of some of the BS in some of the threads here. But as of a couple of weeks ago, he was alive and well and still kicking.

Me? I just make liberal use of the Ignore function. Same as I do when I'm watching football, or golf, or whatever on TV, and don't want to hear the blathering commentary of some talking head...I just want to watch the action speak for itself.

I wish they made a "mute" button we could use in daily life. 'course, by now Upper Management would probably have shot me, so.....

"Q" for the thread. Once my SBR gets out of NFA jail, I'm going to mount the Aimpoint PRO on it, as that will be my new default duty / HD gun. I have a Vortex 3x Spitfire to replace the PRO on my current HD rifle. I use the 50/200, or MPBR zero. I'd like to do the same with the Vortex, but it has an etched BDC reticle set for a 100 yd zero. Looking at the subtentions, could I not zero the crosshair at 50, and then still have a fairly close 50/200 zero? The 100 yd zero would closely approximate the top of the crosshair, at which point the remaining BDC marks would be relatively (MoM) close, yes? No?

Searched all over Al Gore's internet, and can't find much to go on. Figured I'd try here.

I would imagine if you used the primary cross as your "red dot" it should be same idea. (I'm not sure about the line of sight height difference between the two but if the same or very close there should be little difference) Now mind you this isn't taking any subtensions into account, just using your center aim crosshair exactly as you have been using the single dot on the AP.

I'm iffy on getting the subtens to match up though. By this I mean with the primary cross zero at 50 on a BDC set up for 100 I would assume they'd be well off of "predicted" book impacts. Still, they're going to land somewhere. It could be worth finding out. (not sure how long a range you have access to)

I'll try it when I get time and post the unscientific results. Our range has a 200 yd rifle side. Should be able to get out there in the next few weeks. I do most of my shooting at a friends house. He lives out in the sticks, and has a pretty nice 75-80 yd setup.

Then again, some days I go out and I'm Carlos Hathcock, but most of the time I'm Yosemite Sam.

It was sort of an homage to a funny discussion in this thread a few years ago. Wasn't meant as an insult. If the only pistol I could buy was pink, I wouldn't turn it down.

Yeah, that was back when you could count on a snowball fight here every few days. It was great fun, and when it was over we'd start looking around for the next one...

I have a 19X already. This one is just black 🤷🏻‍♂️

Yeah, you know me, I'm an old ".45 Dinosaur". You know what I have in my closet, and on my side.

But there's just something about that G45 that says "Come try me and I'll change your mind..."

Must. Not. Give. In.
