Prison system is big business in the country. Corporations and special interest groups love drugs being illegal. It’s good for business!! They don’t give a damn about people. But don’t tell Bass that.

According to multiple sources, less than 20% of the American public use marijuana, while greater than 70% use alcohol. There is data to suggest that alcohol is more harmful than marijuana, and there is data to suggest that this is widely acknowledged by the general public. The major difference between the two substances is legality. Yes, there are some communities/sub-cultures that distrust anything do do with law enforcement, but the fact remains that prison time is perhaps the chief deterrent for a significant proportion of law-abiding citizens.

By legalizing any substance, you would almost certainly increase the usage of it at least somewhat.

Coupled with more education and rehab, I'd say false. Users could recover and not become criminalized and lifelong users. More education means less use and repeat use.

Taking in the whole picture, it could mean less. Decriminalization at the very least. Portugal has offered a better model and proof it works.

All the evidence you have is an ever growing war on drugs, coupled with increasing drug usage. So many accomplishments!

But because it's illegal, a child that almost dies in a meth explosion can be removed from the dangerous home and be given a chance. If it's legalized, then the explosion would be akin to a cooking accident, and nothing could be done. Not to mention the dangers of excessive Meth exposure. Also, because it's illegal, sellers can be taken off the street, reducing the number of people who have the opportunity to try and become addicted to the substances. The war on drugs helps break the cycle. The war can never be won, but a surrender would be far worse.

for every seller taken off the street, two more replace them. They sell on the street because it's illegal and unregulated. If someone dies because of your meth explosion, you go to jail for manslaughter, regardless of it being a regulated drug or not.

By legalizing it, you take those billions of dollars you were spending on the drug war and reinvest it in EDUCATION and TREATMENT and people no longer go to jail for possession. If my best friend had went to jail for possession, his life would be crap right now. Instead he was able to stop doing it and turn his life around. Hard to do that when you are a convicted felon.

I have stated on here that I believe in limited decriminalization of marijuana. My point in that last post is that it is erroneous to suggest that legality is not a deterrent.

If someone dies during a grease fire, do you go to jail for manslaughter? No difference if it's all legal. They're just cooking something.

So over the top. So only creationists are allowed to value human life? Might want to inform the majority of society, who seem to care for one another.
