$20 in CA or NYC is likely $15 in TN or cornhole NE, or bum **** SC.People being tightwads makes the world suck. If nobody spends money, nobody makes money...and you're right..while 15 an hour for flipping burgers sounds like too much, maybe more like 12 sounds right..nobody can live on minimum wage now...and on top of that, why do you care what anybody makes for doing a shite job nobody wants?
I’m staring down the barrel of Nancy’s 600/ slice deep dish that I’ve never eaten before and you won’t let me! And then I find out you’re eating pizza!!!!Coronavirus log: Day 14
Slept 10 hours. Feel mostly fine, but no energy. I spend a large portion of my days watching “perfect brownie” videos and thinking how I can make them low calorie. I have thoughts on a low calorie peanut butter cup but haven’t tried them either.
Would like to sleep again but am dragging myself outside for a walk and workout before shutting it down for the day and eating pizza. All calorie goals will be met so don’t anybody go losing your minds on me now
I think the more we learn that we are going to see that far more people had this thing than we realized which drives the death rate down by a large amountNo we didn’t. The reason we’re not in a really horrible spot is because we overreacted. There’s too munch death around the world to risk it, especially amongst our youth and elderly.
True...but I know a lady at a local Mickey Ds that got dumped by her cheating scumbag husband at 42 after their kids were raised and gone, she married him after getting pregnant and dropping out her senior year of high school. Long story short, she started out there as a nothing and worked her way up to shift leader..I asked her if she had gotten a big raise, and she said no, it was just more responsibility, and a few more hours.
I refuse to use those stupid computers, and the only time I use a self checkout is when the line us way too long, and I wish everybody else would too.
People are jerks for crapping on lower level labor. I respect people that are trying to work and do the best they can, and we don't have a clue what any other persons circumstances are.
Like I said....nobody can live on minimum wage as it is now...it is a bad joke.
Honestly, nobody can live on anything even in the neighborhood of minimum wage. If folks here added up their bills, then cut the house and car payments in half to account for lower income versions, and looked at how much it takes just to survive...then look at yearly income anywhere near minimum wage. It's just not doable.
Usually people fire back with a welfare comment and that's just silly. The poverty level income is something stupid like 17,000 for 2 working adults to receive all this aid that everyone swears all poor people are living off of. The ones that actually don't work? Sure.. but all the ones making $10-12 an hour busting their ass, aren't getting handouts and they aren't getting anywhere in life except into debt.
"Then go to college". That's been happening. Now the competition has stiffened and degrees are worth less. Also leaves too many labor spots filled by unqualified people and poor results
The bottom line is the US needs laborers and they need to be able to live at least a semi decent life.
You've now officially outed yourself as having read the NYT at least a few times in the past in order to hit the paywall. Clear your cookies before opening the website or use a different browser and go forth to read for free. A visceral first-hand account of what we've collectively been terrified of and trying to avoid over the past few months. We've been fortunate in my area, and my experience has thankfully been nothing like this. Apart from the grim reality of all the deaths - as with combat veterans - in the hardest-hit areas, PTSD will stalk a large number of the recovered, family members and those who cared for them without regard for individual strengths or weaknesses of character.I can’t. It wants me to subscribe and I’m not signing up for NYT
