Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

It’s what has happened to all news media, both left and right. They create their own context to make quotations say what they want. Instead of truthful reporting on the actual context of the interview, short little Twitter/headline friendly quips are splice out and inserted into the preferred narrative.
I’ve definitely seen examples of supposed news outlets using quotation marks for things that were not direct quotes. Just like the accusation of being a racist, it seems quotation marks are losing their meaning.

Again, no one on here agreed with his statement.

But you and others are defending it, which is crazy. Especially from the small government right:

Again, what action does it cause?

Trump says stupid ish all the time. Even his supporters know that.

Part of my enjoyment of this presidency has been the hope that people realize this position is not nearly as important as we've made it out to be. This isnt a kingdom.

I will say again, it causes nothing to happen. We have layers and layers of people around the POTUS, he can misunderstand it all he wants, it generates no action.

I think he views leverage as control. He can pull federal funding for State of Emergency declarations but that's it. I believe States give up some rights when declaring but I cant recall what is involved in that.

I can believe he doesn't have a complete grasp of the constitution, hell look at our resident barristers. How many of them, guys with actual JDs do you feel has complete grasp of it?

Trumps tweet was around 9am yesterday, the governors announced a press conference that afternoon.
So will Trump be able to claim credit for reopening the economy? Either by "Order" or as a catalyst from his treat of order? And for the other shoe, if the reopening fails, he can blame it on the Democratic Governors.

There is no such thing as a complete grasp of the constitution.

Again, he can think it all day, every day. It translates into nothing actionable.

I wish so many were as angry at their governor.
He is currently reshaping courts, including the USSC, to his liking. Congress has shown over the past few decades they are fine with abdicating power to the executive branch. So this should concern anyone paying attention to the trends

But you and others are defending it, which is crazy. Especially from the small government right:

I said it was incorrect. People actually overstepping their bounds (which is happening) >>>>>>>>>>>>> people claiming they can overstep their powers

We are talking about the executive branch, which should be able to handle more two things at once. Trump ignored COVID because, as I stated before, he did not want the economy to tank. Plus, he didn't trust our intelligence because of his deep state conspiracy theory,

Maybe he could have focused more time if he wasn’t busy fending off a ******** impeachment predicated in large part by the “intelligence” community he was supposed to trust.

But you and others are defending it, which is crazy. Especially from the small government right:
What he says(that wasnt me agreeing with what he said. What he said on the face is not correct and I wouldnt support his attempt) and his actions are separate. For example, I am ok with a government advising people avoid the beaches and saying they are closed. I am against the arresting of citizens for it.

It's pretty disturbing that he claimed the potus has it. That's more dangerous to the republic than random internet guy

Meh , I’ve watched politicians / presidents / congressmen / Fed agencies claim all kinds of crap over the years . Both with and directly opposed to the constitution. Nothing changes but the amount of complaining . He can claim whatever he wants , it won’t change what the facts are . He doesn’t , there’s no way he can get it and it just makes him look foolish . Just another day in DC for a politician to look foolish .

Where has he done something outside of his authority in your statement above?

The complacency and lack of outrage from the right of Trump's complete misunderstanding of the 10th amendment is mind-boggling. It seems to be "eh, it's only Trump, and doesn't matter anyway".

If this were a Dem president it would be plastered everywhere over right wing media and I wouldn't be surprised to see right wing militia's hunkering down locked and loaded.

Why do so many liberals have mommy/daddy issues? I don't blame you though, i wouldn't want to work getting rapists, drug dealers and thieves out of jail either, what a miserable, disgusting life

What a Christlike post.

I was actually raised by my stepdad (I call him dad) since I was 3, so no daddy issues here! My dad is a great man who stepped up throughout my life and raised to only give respect where it's earned. Best lesson anyone ever taught me.

A miserable, disgusting life is being the cornerstone of "innocent until proven guilty?" How petty and sad can you be?

Probably because the media would have signed off on it if it were a lib saying it. Giving it legs. Opposite happened here.

As soon as he moves in that direction there will be outrage, right now many are just giving him the benefit of the doubt.

We should also take out any people that were already in the dying process off the final numbers to get an accurate picture.

Where a positive test is needed - I'm just not worried about it. I mean the final numbers can be adjusted because there will be time to do it then (there isn't now), but I don't believe we do that for flu and I don't think we'll do it here. I agree it should be easy to take off those who die in a car accident, or sky diving accident, or plane crash, or whatever that is clearly not linked. And doing that won't move the numbers in any meaningful way. But when it comes to natural death, that becomes a much harder equation to solve and one that also won't really move the numbers in any meaningful way. So, I'm fine with getting these numbers the best we can on the back end - but I just want to separate that from actively questioning the death numbers today, due to those deaths being included, because it is not significant.

Everyone has said he was wrong. No one has defended him as being right. What more do you want?
