Texas A&M Chancellor John Sharp says full football schedule could occur with Oct. start

Take it for what it’s worth but the SEC Network ran a trailer on the Finebaum show just now with some poll results on this very subject. I believe it said 71% of the respondents said they would not attend games this fall without a vaccine in place. (Which of course is not enough time to be approved.) I’m in that camp. You guys do what you like but there’s not a chance in Hades that I’m sitting in a stadium with 100,000 people if there’s a chance this mess is coming back. And nobody is going to know if that’s going to be the case or not.
I agree. That being said, on October 24, 2020, for Tennessee VS Bama, IF the ONLY way UT could be guaranteed a victory over Bama would depend on if you go to the game or not? Do you go, or do you not go?

I have three neighbors all working at local ICU. In a county that has well-below the state average of COVID cases, either in testing positive or hospitalization.

They are in a dead-on panic. They know it's coming, they don't know when, none of them believe that the weather will "burn it out" or any other such foolishness. I asked them if any of them, just one, would consider attending a Power 5 football game in August or September and they laughed.

What exactly is it that your neighbors believe is “coming?” I get that you surround yourself with uninformed harbingers of doom, that much is clear, but their position seems particularly incongruous with both what they’ve observed and any rational person’s takeaway regarding this virus’ trajectory.

Truly, tell us mote about this apocalyptic hellscape they’re envisioning in the face of reason.

No vaccine till 2021 pretty safe bet that there will be no football even without fans. You going to take that chance with 100 players on each team in very close proximity to each other? One player or coach gets infected you have to shut the whole season down just like the NBA did.
Wrong, on many levels but don't have time to go into it. The secondary waves will be nothing like the initial wave and most all doctors say it will be much more manageable. Vaccine is nice, but this can be handled without the vaccine. Current medicines that are working and many other that will be available soon will be what curbs this. While it is infectious virus, it is not near as deadly as what we thought it might be and all doctors say other rounds be easier to pounce on once seem as we have so much in place now plus what we will have in the coming months. We are on the downside, no doubt. Things are going to start opening soon. GBO!

Is this a serious question? The possibility of being infected or infecting 1,000s? Oh, OK, you forgot the blue font.

My bad. <rolls eyes>

lulz. If cardiac care physicians are "harbingers of doom" I hope you never have a heart attack.

My question still stands, Dumbledorange. What exactly does your commune brethren believe is coming for your county/state?

There’s a pretty large gap between the already-asinine declaration that the college football absolutely won’t have a 2020 season and the belief that “it” (mass fatality/uncontrollably-ill people lining the streets/the end times/something else horrifying that you’ve yet to explain?) is “coming.”

You don't seem to understand the IMHE model, or the impact that social-distancing has on it. That's fine, but you just look ignorant when you repeatedly point it out in your posts.

At present the forecast, which assumes continued social distancing, only covers the next four months and does not predict how many deaths there may be if there is a resurgence at a later point or if social distancing is not fully implemented and maintained.

Tell you what, in June we will revisit this. If things aren't better, I will admit I was wrong but if they are and life is headed back to normal will you be around to admit you were wrong? Seems some of you are cheering a little too hard for a total meltdown and a lot of death.

"Cheering for a total meltdown and a lot of death", please, do quote my post where I've stated that.

How do the projections look when the players and parents tell you to kiss their collective a**es, and they will not endanger their kids for your entertainment?

Don't have "commune brethren", can't help you. Come back when you have a narrative that isn't about distorting posts to forward your simple-minded agenda. Like a real grown-up.

If the SEC decides to play football this fall and scaredy-cats refuse to suit up, I sincerely hope that they understand the ramifications of losing their scholarships and playing the remainder of their days in JUCO/non-P5 competition.

Lie. You don't give a rat's ass or have any sincere hopes, all you want is your football fix and be damned the rest.

Oh, no, that’s where you’re mistaken! There’s nothing insincere about my hope that talented young Americans recognize the extent to which the fearmongers in this country are attempting to dismantle any semblance of normalcy for no justifiable reason.

So because I was looking at things from a positive standpoint vs. one where the world is coming to an end all the sudden I want players to risk their health for entertainment value? Please tell me where I said that?

I think a lot of decisions for how soon we get back going with everything is going to depend on collective results from antibody testing....there is no way to accurately discern the effects of this disease if we don't know how many people have actually had it.

A lot of things should be last to open up and one of those should be sports. We need to worry about getting our economy up and going again because the carnage from that is going to be bad. However I don't think Fall Sports are of the table, now Baseball they might not see fans or play this summer but football still has a path forward if we can get stuff done.

Things will no doubt be “better” by June in most areas IF we stay with current policy. That’s a pretty safe bet. The question is whether it is completely under control and whether or not we’ll see another surge when things open back up. Especially with no vaccine in sight. Can you guarantee that? Until you can, I’m going to lean toward the cautious side of dealing with it. Just as some lean a bit more to the meltdown side, it seems to me that some lean too much to the misguided views of a President who will do and say anything to get re-elected. Remember what I’ve said before. He only cares about one person in this world and it ain’t me or you.

I don't like politicians from either side of the aisle, they all lie and they're all bought
