Why are farmers having to dump milk when you go to the store and they are out?

Demand has fallen for dairy due to schools, restaurants, etc being shut down, resulting in overproduction.

People were panic-buying consumer packaged products, resulting in store limiting purchase. Dairy Farmers of America complained that now these limits on purchases are keeping shelves artificially empty in the face of surplus. No place to go but the ground.

Hog, did your family ever pour large quantities of milk down the drain? Don't lie.

Yes, once was my fault because I put a treated cow into the tank. Bad weather and the truck couldn't get there on time has happened a couple of times, refrigeration went out once letting the milk get too warm. **** happens. We have never had to dump milk because there was no place for it to go.

Are the dairy farmers expecting a bailout now because they'er not profitable. Do you all want to see how much bailout money they get on top of what Trump has already given?

When are you going to supply the answer? You have a comodity being run down the drain for profit. there's no further explanation needed.

I'll repeat:
Demand has been gutted with all the shite being shut down by government. Same in Canada.

The market was always there in other words. Why are they dumping it down the drains now?

Many are but I hope there isn't one even if it means my family stops milking.

There;'s a faint cry the school system was propping up the milk industry. Is that correct?

Maybe you just mean they're not over consuming.

There is no reason on this gods green earth to be poring milk down the drain other than profit.

The article I posted tells you exactly WHY. Read it.

LOL

You know who is paying them for the milk they have to dump? Themselves! If you belong to a co-op there is a deduction on every milk check for a self-insurance fund for instances where bad weather and the truck can't get there or other instances that rarely happens. When that money runs out there is no more.
I know some info. I have a massive dfa plant in my town plus the largest dairy transport is headquartered here

How did you see "schools" but not "restaurants, etc"? (*Global/export* commercial demand has plummeted in a government mandated shutdown of the economy. We're not on family vacation; this shite has real, long-lasting ramifications.

Some of the excess production may be absorbed by consumer outlets removing limits on purchases, but that isn't going to make up the difference. There is also packaging issues because markets don't buy commercial-sized packages, and there are transportation/distribution issues.

Well, yes, overproduction mean no outlet for a quickly perishable product.

Remember when Cuomo said he needed 30,000?

Cuomo is nothing more than any other big government liberal. Caught with pants down blame the closest Republican and make ridiculous outrageous claims only to look like a fool sand the MSM never calls them on it.

TBH, nobody has died from lack of milk; therefore, it's been "propped up". Milk down the drain equals what? The overhead has already happened for the dairy farmer but he chooses to pour it down the drain. Go figure the motive.

Meanwhile, our fat-assed leader failed to order test kits and medical supplies while he lied to Americans. He's a worthless sack.

You do realize that because of him we are testing far more people than anyone else in the world. The CDC f...d up testing and he quickly fixed it. Perhaps you were in favor of just waiting for the CDC to fix the testing issues

It isn't simply a domestic issue, *global* export demand has also crashed. There was no problem until world governments shuttered economies; no one was dumping milk til now.

No, all the overhead hasn't occurred. You can't put a gag order on cows' udders; the same milk is produced and has to be harvested every day. If there's no place for it to go, you don't throw good money after bad by processing it.
