Lunatic? Hell I fully support doing away with the handshake, especially now with a TP shortage.

But really, I’ve always hated shaking hands.

I always thought it was a stupid practice because I can be a bit of a germaphobe but I still gauge someone by how firm their handshake is.

They have the ability to do it right now with SCADA. I'm sure right now the smart meters now can only operate the main circuit coming in to your home. But the technology is there where they could make new homes be constructed with smart distribution panels that will indeed trip individual breakers.

I wasn't saying the ability to do any of this was there now. But it would not be very hard for a utility to easily send SCADA signals to a smart meter or smart distribution panel to turn of individual circuits.
SCADA is a antiquated system being phased out by most utility companies. It was used primarily for remote switching in the field on transmission circuits. as far as I know, it has never been used on distribution circuits. At least not in Chattanooga. EPB now uses PCR's (Pulse Circuit Reclosers) commonly referred to as smart switches operated off fiber optics to do much of their field switching. The smart meters can most defiantly sense load swings on individual hot legs coming to your house in almost real time. That is used to help troubleshooters in the field locate possible problems at a customer's home such as a burnt block in the meter center.

Soon (if not already here).

Only now, I think all they can do is shut off power to your entire house. In the future, they will have access to each circuit in your home and could "select" particular circuits or breakers to trip/turn off. So they probably will "trip" your HVAC breaker in the summer but leave the breaker for your fridge alone. But, if that fridge starts to trend upward with higher usage, that might trigger a letter from the power company. Either that means your fridge needs servicing or replacement or your fridge is increasingly using more energy as time goes on for some other reason. Possibilities are endless...

The answer is being off grid with alternative energy sources, like solar, propane, wind and water.👍

I remember one time when I was introduced to someone who did the yank bank handshake that Trump does. I shook away his grip and asked him if his stepdad taught him how to shake hands. Turns out he actually was raised by his stepdad and it was an overall awkward introduction.
Did his daughter have a firm grip too?

They may be open, but it would be emergency only. Otherwise they’d be taking on a lot of risk... In Tennessee it’s emergency only by law.

As far as going above and beyond with infection control... You can’t really disinfect the air and that’s the big concern when you’re blasting microbes out of a patient’s mouth.
Let's keep our wits about us.
From WHO:
"The virus that causes COVID-19 is mainly transmitted through droplets generated when an infected person coughs, sneezes, or speaks. These droplets are too heavy to hang in the air. They quickly fall on floors or surfaces. You can be infected by breathing in the virus if you are within 1 metre of a person who has COVID-19, or by touching a contaminated surface and then touching your eyes, nose or mouth before washing your hands."

I yank back, hard enough to get them just a little off balance. It never happens twice with the same person.

Starting at your 18th birthday, What's the count so far of how many times you should have gotten your arse beat but didnt?

Lol. My green agenda is covering my own azz by becoming off grid and not having to worry about it while puttering around on my own multi-family style homestead😉.
im very “green” on an individual basis. Large solar and wind farms do not make sense as it just creates more infrastructure to take care. Encouraging individuals to install solar and wind at their house’s or business is where the focus of alternative energy should be
