Official Gramps' Memorial Eternal OT Thread

My mother cooks bacon and then puts it in the fridge so she can have it for later on.

I just leave out on the counter , we walk by and snack on it until it’s gone . Thats what happened today , I was making sausage balls and found about a half a pound in the fridge so I just fried it up .

Last year was my first experience with the 20-gallon grow/fabric sacks...it went pretty well for cukes and pumpkins....I'm limited on ground space, so most of what I do is in containers, and I will be damned if I know how to keep aphids off the peppers around here. I tried everything to no avail. Except for my Early Girls and a few Better Boys, my tomatoes had some issues last year. I ordered the plants from Gurney's online, and they didn't get here until early June. I had never bought tomatoes with the root balls in shrink wrap. It was just weird to me. And they did fairly well considering (were late), but they require being put into a pot and acclimated for a couple of weeks before setting into the ground, which meant that by the time it really heated up in July (June was mild here in Tri-Cities), I had some issues with the heat. The Gurney's shrink-wrapped root green peppers I put into the ground did very well.
Funny you mentioned aphids on peppers. I bought my tomato plants as seedlings from Lowe’s and I grabbed one pepper plant too, and a couple days after planting I noticed the pepper had lots of aphids on the bottom side of the leaves. I think my fabric beds held about 50 gallons but the cedar beds are a bit bigger, just over 4’ square on the inside, and a few inches deeper, so they hold about twice as much soil as the fabric beds. Still a bit tight to put 4 plants but we’ll see how they do with such minimal social distancing. When I started with the fabric beds I got a load of mushroom compost and am still using it.

Do you or Nurse Goodbody castrate the poor little sausages?
