Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

This is a well documented side effect of plaquenil in patients with autoimmune disorders, specifically lupus. The hospital it’s in my center have tried it with some of the initial patients in our center with negligible therapeutic effects but several instances of liver failure. I’m sure all this stuff will be published in time, but on the ground, in the real world, none of our hospitalized are using this drug for covid anymore. They are exploring other options.

Lupus patients aren't being treated for a short-term virus.

It really doesn't matter what your hospitals are doing, just that people aren't being ravaged by the clinical sensibilities of others, but are being cared for by conscientious doctors who don't eschew a treatment because it's not on a label.

You're fake news, Septic. A disgrace

Calm down my man, no need to get twisted over Trump's inability to field even the most innocuous of fluff questions. You should feel some comfort that I don't think you're nearly as stupid as Donny Exotic. Though.... That bar is set pretty low.

At any rate, this anger is not a good look for you - maybe you've had enough internet today, go play with your cat.

Looks like we got us some baiting going on. LG wouldn't bite on mine, but he isn't as smart as Septic is.

Shhhh...

Calling Captain Crozier incompetent or stupid doesn't reflect well on those who gave him the command of the Roosevelt. I'm afraid acting Secretary Modly is typical of the type of people Trump has installed throughout our government? Hopefully our national nightmare will come to an end in January.
Modly's statement, as I read it, was not wrong. But just as politics have infected the court, they're now infecting the military. In hindsight, because of that, he should have chosen his words more carefully. Personally, I think it's sad that this is what we've come to. Everything has to be PC.

Was Trump downplaying on Feb 18, when we had 13 cases/0 deaths?
--------------------------------------------------------------
"Whenever you have the threat of a transmissible infection, there are varying degrees from understandable to outlandish extrapolations of fear," Fauci said. Fauci doesn't want people to worry about coronavirus, the danger of which is "just minuscule." But he does want them to take precautions against the "influenza outbreak, which is having its second wave."

"We have more kids dying of flu this year at this time than in the last decade or more," he said. "At the same time people are worrying about going to a Chinese restaurant. The threat is (we have) a pretty bad influenza season, particularly dangerous for our children."

Fauci offered advice for people who want to protect against the "real and present danger" of seasonal flu, which also would protect against the hypothetical danger of coronavirus.

"Wash your hands as frequently as you can. Stay away from crowded places where people are coughing and sneezing. If in fact you are coughing and sneezing, cover your mouth," he says.

"You know, all the things that we say each year." https://news.yahoo.com%2Ftop-disease-official-risk-coronavirus-222852299.html%3Aq4ixtq4csvgmuTM0NDnrtEa1gwA&cuid=262238

Was he downplaying on Feb 25:
Ultimately, we expect we will see community spread in this country,” Dr. Nancy Messonnier, director of the CDC’s National Center for Immunization and Respiratory Diseases, told reporters.
“It’s not so much a question of if this will happen anymore, but rather more of a question of exactly when this will happen and how many people in this country will have severe illness,” she said.
“We are asking the American public to work with us to prepare in the expectation that this could be bad,” she said. “I continue to hope that in the end we’ll look back and feel like we are overprepared, but that is a better place to be in than being underprepared.” https://www.winknews.com/20...

See the medical experts message shift in one week from "No problem" to "could get bad but we're not sure yet"?

What were WHO "experts" saying on Feb 24?
GENEVA (Reuters) - The coronavirus outbreak can still be beaten, the World Health Organization said on Monday, insisting it was premature to declare it a pandemic even though it had the potential to reach that level.
"The key message that should give all countries hope, courage and confidence is that this virus can be contained, indeed there are many countries that have done exactly that," WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus told a news conference in Geneva.
"Using the word 'pandemic' now does not fit the facts but may certainly cause fear," he added as the number of cases continued to mount internationally and financial markets spun lower.
"We must focus on containment while doing everything we can to prepare for a potential pandemic."
Tedros said a sudden increase of cases in Italy, Iran and South Korea were "deeply concerning" but for now authorities were not seeing an uncontained global spread of the virus or witnessing widespread serious cases or deaths.

So, we're at the end of Feb, and all the health experts sound a lot like Trump, don't they? Why is that? Could Trump ACTUALLY BE LISTENING TO THEM? Oh, hell! naaaaa....

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Further, even on March 10, we had 1300 confirmed cases and our medical experts were telling us:
"What we're saying today, is that although we continue to come in an say appropriately that as a nation the risk is relatively low, there are parts of the country right now that are having community spread which is clearly a bit more than that, etc."

No school, business closings, no economic shutdown. Relatively low risk.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In fact, the "experts" prognostications in late Feb was in progressive flux as they became more knowledgeable about it. We see them talking about not unnecessarily injecting fear and talk of pandemic into the situation, and Trump doing just what they advise. Jan and Feb are not your months for claiming his ignored the urgency and didn't listen to the experts. Maybe late March is the ripe cherry to be plucked - ? Hmmmm....

Or has the left simply talked themselves into yet another Russiaaaah!-esque certainty, despite what what the damned record says?
You know what the damned record doesn't say? That Trump was calling the coronavirus a pandemic long before anyone else was. Nope... that was Trump's own lie. Donald Trump is a toxic combination of dishonesty and egotism.

If instead of Fauci we just so happened to get someone a little less guarded in their speech, this hydroxychloroquine argument would be a complete non issue.

The fact that the Trump hater brigade is dying on this tiny mole hill tells you Trump must not be doing too much to royally botch this.

Same goes for the Acting SecNav as goes for the boat Capt, he is either too stupid or too naive to be Sec Nav.

It's absent the context that the Fox crews were accurately paraphrasing what our medical experts and the WHO was saying that exact timeframe through March 10. I just posted it a moment ago.

I know I won't go out to the grocery store thinking I may step on a heroin needle. Thanks medical experts.

Just read a flu-C19 comparison. In this flu season, there were 24K deaths among 246K confirmed cases, for about a 10% death rate. That's considerably higher that the same C19 rates. Weekly U.S. Influenza Surveillance Report (FluView)

Further, the C19 modelings seem little more than alarmism. With projections up to tens of times greater than actual conditions or current projections, they certainly can't be relied upon to plan for pandemic.

Is that 24k number the modeled deaths? I believe it must be. According to the CDC’s FluView there have been on average 254 deaths a week through 25 weeks of flu season giving 6,367 lab confirmed flu deaths this season. That compares to 290k positive flu tests (247k in clinical health labs and 43k in public health labs).

That ends up being 2%.

Modeling gets you up to the higher flu deaths (tens of thousands) and higher flu cases (tens of millions) and ultimately arrives at the mortality rate of .1% vs the much higher case fatality rate.

That is not true... there are several things in that video that health care professionals were NEVER saying at any point.

WHO declared it pandemic on Mar. 11, before Trump did, so you win that one.

Everything up til then, you lose. In fact, Trump did listen to the experts and his message changed as theirs did, and in fact did not ignore the grim peril the Orwellian left now manufactures.

That is not true. The Fox News people in that video were saying things that epidemiologists and virologists were never saying. They were openly mocking the coronavirus as a threat and making a joke of it.

Because this thing is worse than the common flu but nothing remotely close to the 1918, the 2 opposing views will disagree on most of this for decades. This thing is a tweener.
