when I was about 1 I had viral meningitis. I was allergic to the only medicine, one ingredient at least, approved for infants. For one reason or another I ended being given a medicine that had never been approved to treat viral mengitis for young children.It’s still approved for other uses.
Example - My kid is currently taking a prescription anti-histamine, on a half-dose. It’s side effect is increased appetite. His doctor prescribed it to him because she is concerned about his weight. He doesn’t have any allergy problems.
If the doctor wants to prescribe it, then so what. They know what the side effects are, and it is in fact FDA approved for something and not some experimental medicine that nobody really understands.
This type of stuff definitely happens in life saving situations.
Cant believe people are arguing against the right to try.
