Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

The conspiracy theorist in me wonders if the response to this is an elaborate form of social engineering, conditioning us for widespread government crackdowns becoming the norm in the future.

IDK, I just have a feeling that something nefarious is going on here.
You can bet they will never forget how easy it was for them to tell everyone to stay home and 70%ish said yes ok that’s fine whatever you say

Have we not?

Sigh.

Let me try this again.

If a country of 350 million tests 2 million, that is not as effective as a country of 50 million testing 1 million.

Do you understand why that is? Can you comprehend why the latter is doing a much better job?

Monday Morning quarterbacking aside, how would anyone (Trump or any other politician) have handled this any differently with the information given even back in January. This is some unprecedented nonsense we are dealing with (apparently).

I didn’t say Trump botched it. I don’t know the full set of facts that describe how or why we botched it. But we botched it.

We had our first confirmed case within a day of South Korea (around Jan 20). Our FDA approved our CV test within a day of South Korea’s CDC approving theirs (around Feb 4). The stories from there were vastly different.

South Korea rapidly deployed their tests and by roughly March 8 had tested almost 200,000 PEOPLE while the US had tested only roughly 5,000 specimens (less people because we were running multiple specimens per individual).

Some of the dates and numbers might be off a little because I’m pulling them from memory and I researched the timelines over a week ago. But they should be close.

It was still badly botched.
We only had two choices with this disease.....hope it doesn’t kill us and we can contain it to where it doesn’t spread as bad as we fear it may or commit suicide by shutting the world down hoping it makes a difference.... we chose number like we have with the past few communicable diseases.

Where were we (USA) going to get more test kits or equipment when (apparently) China had been expats hoarding medical supplies from Australia, Canada and other places and sending those supplies back to China?

We tried to roll out testing but we just badly botched it.

Or are you suggesting we botched it on purpose? I doubt that.

Yep.... we need to be fighting this disease together and leave the political infighting till this is over.

PPE (if I understand your post correctly) is irrelevant to the development and roll-out of our test.

Do a search on my posts; I've posted several times the CDC test failure and FDA complicity saga that lasted the entire month of Feb.

I thought we rolled out testing but they didn’t work.... now we have tested more than anywhere in the world and apparently have a 15 minute test available.... testing doesn’t affect much though since we quarantined anyone with symptoms and anyone around someone with symptoms....

Even still, you can't blame Trump or any of the NYC officials or New Orleans officials for not taking this threat seriously.

Again, you are Monday morning quarterbacking. Hindsight is 20/20. You are not being fair or reasonable.

So - you’re saying we botched the rollout? I agree.

WTF?

No, you’re inserting words in my mouth.

I didn’t comment on any of those people not taking it seriously.

I posted that we botched out testing program. Because we did.

And again, no one was talking this seriously in January.

And just curious, what would have been the solution at that time? More testing, apparently, is your solution. But then what?
