Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

100,000 deaths by when? Wtf does this tweet even mean?

This thing is here to stay. Guarantee we will hit 100K deaths at some point. The issue is if we hit that in a month, it’s a problem. If we hit that number in three years, then it isn’t as big a problem.

I still question the causation and and real mortality rate with this thing.
The mortality rate is going to be the hardest thing to compute unless they test everyone to see who had it after the fact. Which will probably never happen.

At that point they will be guessing as to how many asymptomatic cases there were and how many had mild symptoms that never went to the Dr and got tested.

It's a lot of speculation but I've read as much as 25% of the total is asymptomatic with possibly that many if not more having symptoms but were never tested.

Those variables dont change the total deaths but do change the rate.

Turned on the news,.some health official saying we would rather prevent disease than treat disease. That's a great slogan, but where do you draw the line? Deaths are going to be way down in general from everybody staying home. Do health officials plan on saying this every flu season? It seeks they are basing this on models that say millions of deaths, which seems to be at least an order of magnitude off.

The actions that are being taken now are intended to buy some time to prepare for the worst, which is coming over the next few weeks in the hardest hit places. We should be better equipped to handle the next round, and/or seasonal flu in the future.

Does it concern anyone else the model they printed out this week was made in Excel? Guys... I would like to think the best epidemiologists in the world aren't out here using Excel.
Since the organization making the prediction is sponsored by Bill and Melinda Gates what program would you expect?

Not surprised at all. She bought the appointment by her buddy the Governor Kemp.
That seems like what has to be going on. She came out of the blue definitely was not who the Trump Administration and the GOP wanted to get appointed to that seat.

Remains to be seen whether she passed along information. A lot of people were realigning portfolios.

Hey but at least Kemp opened Tybee beaches, despite the advice of local leadership.

I give him an F grade based on what he has done and not done and his reasoning. I give him an F grade because he cannot get past his own ego to make sound policy decisions. I give him an F grade for allowing partisan and his personal political concerns to dominate. I give him an F grade for poor organization of priorities. I give him an F grade for constantly criticizing anyone who disagrees with him and dares question him.

The raw numbers are not the point. But, there is ample evidence to justify an F grade based on all of those factors. In fact, I'd say the evidence compels the conclusion that he will go down in history as the single worst president to date.
You gave him an F grade because he doesn't have a D beside his name.

Coronavirus: Did Trump's decision to nix pandemic team hinder response
'Gross misjudgment': Experts say Trump's decision to disband pandemic team hindered coronavirus response

"Bolton’s chosen approach to NSC 'streamlining' involved decapitating and diluting the White House’s focus on pandemic threats," Jeremy Konyndyk, a senior policy fellow at the Center for Global Development, wrote in a rebuttal. "He eliminated the senior director position entirely, closed the biodefense directorate, and spread the remaining staff across other parts of the NSC."
but wait, donald is a business man. He cut out inefficiency. You run government like a business. Every business that I've worked at has a streamlined PRT that deals with potentially deadly viruses that could infect up to 300 million people.
