Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

Germany put all their elderly on lockdown which helped their average of people infected being in the 40’s which is leading to a lower death rate.

I hadn't read that.
That doesn't seem to be that case with S. Korea and Taiwan, who've also not shut down their economies.

"Russia collusion", "Trump asked Russia to interfere", "neo-Nazis are fine people" etc. - repeated a million times as if incessant yammering makes it true.
It's like deja vous all over again.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
As we explained in a March 3 story, the administration did eliminate a key position at the NSC but that doesn’t mean the entire “team” was “fired,” as then-Democratic presidential candidate Mike Bloomberg said, or that all of the functions of the office were eliminated.

NSC spokesman John Ullyot told the Post: “No director-level positions were eliminated during this process, and the organization retained its subject matter expertise under a different organizational structure.”

Some have said the NSC needs a separate global health security point person or team — as the Center for Strategic & International Studies recommended. That’s a matter of opinion, and we take no position on that.

Kenneth W. Bernard, who served in both former President Bill Clinton’s and President George W. Bush’s administrations, wrote in 2018 that this was the third time that an administration had “downgraded the importance of disease and bioterrorism threats in the hierarchy of national security issues.” Bernard said he worked in such a post in 1998 but the Bush administration abolished it in 2001, then reopened it a year later after 9/11 and the 2001 anthrax attacks. He said Obama abolished it again after his election, but in his second term created the NSC office.

Bolton responded to the recent criticism on Twitter on March 14, saying: “Claims that streamlining NSC structures impaired our nation’s bio defense are false. Global health remained a top NSC priority, and its expert team was critical to effectively handling the 2018-19 Africa Ebola crisis.” Dems Misconstrue Trump Budget Remarks
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The people inside NSC are saying BS, didn't happen; the unit and expertise is still here, funded, and functioning.
But say, isn't that interesting how Bush and Obama cut it, then later created a unit in response to major events such as anthrax threats and Ebola outbreak. And is that why Obama specifically attempted significant cuts to CDC/biodefense and emergency preparedness in four separate budget years, that I posted you moments ago?

Gee, it's almost as if even government recognizes agencies get fat, the missions that spawned them expire, and maybe - just maybe - they need to be culled?

Now, go to the corner, eat that crow, and remember this: everytime a Democrat opens their mouth in accusation of Trump, they just committed the sin they accuse him of.
LOL........Trump's actions hindered the response. It's not even debatable.
But you can keep quoting Bolton and the others with a vested interest in covering their ass if that makes you feel better.
The rest of us will exist in reality.

I give him an F grade based on what he has done and not done and his reasoning. I give him an F grade because he cannot get past his own ego to make sound policy decisions. I give him an F grade for allowing partisan and his personal political concerns to dominate. I give him an F grade for poor organization of priorities. I give him an F grade for constantly criticizing anyone who disagrees with him and dares question him.

The raw numbers are not the point. But, there is ample evidence to justify an F grade based on all of those factors. In fact, I'd say the evidence compels the conclusion that he will go down in history as the single worst president to date.
Again you gave him an F before it started. I say let’s see what happens. Right now everything is uncertain. We may not reach the death toll predicted. We may well. I don’t see him getting in the way of the doctors. I know you do bc you stupidly think he should wear a mask. It’s going to be about the economic recovery. You are smart enough to know that the deaths and economy are going to be how he’s judged. Fair or not.

The military judge who listened to the evidence disagreed. And before you bring up Trump, Trump didn't sit through the trial and hear testimony. Sure, he had the power to overrule the verdict, but that doesn't make his decision to do so the right decision. I'm not sure of all the specifics of Gallagher's court martial, but he had a military judge, and I'm assuming there was a jury, which would have consisted of other military personnel. I doubt any of them took this lightly. So he was found to be in violation by actual military personnel. When it comes to military matters, I would trust those people far more than Trump. We both know Trump never served. And I highly doubt he would understand the seriousness of violating military ethics(or any ethics if we're being honest). So do you believe you know better than all those military men and possibly women who sat the jury and heard the evidence? Know better than the judge? They heard ALL the evidence and testimony, not just the snippets picked up in the press. Trump should have stayed out of it.

I respect your point. And don't think Trump made the decision without getting the facts.

You give him an F grade because he's a Republican and not Hillary.

Oh and I noticed you ignored my comments on if he had barred international travel in January how the Dem side would have responded. We both know how you would have. Yet you would have chosen fake racism claims over our public health.

And Amash representing Libertarians is riding shotgun with equally conflicted MItt, dedicated to a spacey interpretation of the constitution, putting them squarely on the side of the fascist attempt to subjugate the executive to the legislative, and ignore the incredible abuses of power by FBI, DOJ, and probably intel.

'Reason' and Amash libertarians should just hang out a sign "Police State Wanted; Inquire Within"

Specifically when was it hindered by Trump and how? If you can't articulate that, you're simply spewing to release pressure.

I am not tying his grade to whether its 80,000 dead, or 180,000 dead.

He's incompetent. Its plain for all to see. He has no business being in this position. None whatsoever.

No one really called for that during that timeframe and that's why I'm saying that some spread and some deaths were inevitable. No doubt about it. And that is why you cannot know for certain what steps he took or did not take caused X number of deaths.

What you CAN do is look at what he did, when and what he declined to do, and why.

In particular, when it got to a point where it dominated everything and he is doing almost nothing but meetings on it, he STILL refused to take it as seriously as he has been told by the experts. To this very day he lives in fantasy land that its just going to reverse itself in a matter of a week.

He touts unproven cures. He bashes media for reporting on the seriousness of it. He rejects advice that could save lives. And its all to salve his precious ego and worries over self image. He is the worst.

lol at calling Trump incompetent while (I assume) supporting Biden. But I agree Trump should not be President. The problem is it's been a long time since anyone's ran that actually deserved the job, and someone has to win.

What do you disagree with, specifically?

None of it makes sense, TBH. Romney is the perfect example of the thin line between R and D and Amash is nothing like him. He's not trying to subjugate the executive to the legislative, but I would hope he's trying to take some power back since executive power is always expanding.

Trump has done far more to empower the deep state, the federal government, etc. than Amash has. I doubt you even know what libertarians stand for, based on your confused comments.

No one knows what libertarians stand for. That's why no one will ever be elected president

100,000 deaths by when? Wtf does this tweet even mean?

This thing is here to stay. Guarantee we will hit 100K deaths at some point. The issue is if we hit that in a month, it’s a problem. If we hit that number in three years, then it isn’t as big a problem.

I still question the causation and and real mortality rate with this thing.
This will make swine flu look like a single car accident. It's bad, but how bad will it get.

Also, more densely populated and less space (and therefore more travel) between their population centers.
That's true once the virus is inside the borders.

The hot spot of all hot spots in the US is New York and NJ.
NY and NJ have 48% of the total case in the US while only being a little over 8% of the total population.

By comparison the population density of NY and NJ is about 25% higher than that Germany.

I'd also guess how the virus got into each country by volume is probably different as well. I could be wrong but I bet the international travel/tourism in both countries is probably a lot different as well.
