Gun control debate (merged)

You obviously aren’t interested in rationality, you hide behind what someone else wrote 250 years ago.

The whole rational is that we have rights . Not opinions as to who deserves the “ privilege “ of having firearms . The last thing I’m doing is hiding , I’m straight up telling you that it’s not a “ privilege “, it’s a right the same as all the rest .

That’s exactly my point. Gun ownership is a responsibility, not a right. Coming from a fellow gun owner mind you.
Nope. It’s a right. But that doesn’t mean it absolves you of being responsible with them. Nor does that provide a rationale to limit that right without an infraction on my part.

Everyone seems to take it personally. If you’re responsible, why would you have anything to worry about? It’s the irresponsible that everyone is concerned with.

That document has held up amazingly well I’d say abd is just as applicable today as the day it was written.

The founders were brilliant and made a valiant effort at creating a document that would limit government. Unfortunately, when people get scared they tend to look to authority figures for protection. That's how we ended up with a heavily bastardized constitution today.

Lord I hope you don’t think that way about all the other rights you keep trying to bring up in here . If you don’t take your rights personally, then you might need to have a long talk with yourself . They are YOUR / OUR rights .

You seem like a reasonable, rational guy. It quite literally is a right. Not sure why you’re trying to argue that.

It seems like everyone who use guns as a hobby want to advocate for the 2A, but don’t go out with pitchforks and AKs to defend the rest of the amendments. Just a bit hypocritical if that’s the foot you choose to stand on.

So I trust you’ll be outside your local courthouse advocating strenuously when another right is infringed upon.

Yeah, well let’s say, like most 2A people assume, that it’s absolute.
Not sure I agree with your assumption. Or understand your question?

Are you saying the US Military chooses to exert “absolute” pressure? Nothing could be done.

If they are trying to take it from me, I will be almost as adamant about that right since there’s only one that states .. “shall not be infringed upon” . Have you read your rights ? You do know that there is only one that says that right ?

So you do agree it is a right?

Your point is valid. But do you agree that the other amendments don’t face the same level of challenge as the second?

You know at this point I don’t know what to tell you. Having a right to do something doesn’t absolve you of consequences if you harm others in doing it. It’s pretty simple 🤷‍♂️

Just like healthcare problems here, dealing with the consequences of people’s natural inclinations isn’t good enough, proactiveness is the best solution.

But those guns are scary. How can we stop them from needlessly and for no reason leaving the home by themselves and killing anyone in their path?
