My purpose has never been to scare or sensationalize, only to inform and encourage the right level of response. The first video explains the graph that Dr. Brilliant is referencing in his tweet. I found it interesting, but it may be too nerdy for many.

So if China is a “success” are we all allowed to make up numbers?

So if China is a “success” are we all allowed to make up numbers?

The point wasn't that China specifically was success, the point was what success looked like on the graph. Obviously their numbers are suspect, so the claim is suspect. Korea, on the other hand, has done a great job. The US, not so much.

I’m waiting for that weird home remedy that appears out of nowhere and cures COVID.

“Randy found a fix but you gotta drink hot milk mixed with mustard and spoiled watermelon.”

I would honestly love to hear how people are doing after taking the liposomal form of Vitamin C. It'll take out the flu in about 36 hours, and is strongly effective for most viruses. Hard to find real data though.

The graph and animation are interesting. The trend to 100k looks pretty clear 4+ months into this. Who knows where China would be on that chart if their numbers were true. US is testing aggressively. Numbers will continue to grow.

In my opinion, the tweet you quoted below the video is nonsense.

And again, SOUTH Korea isn’t comparable to most other nations. Who the hell knows what’s happening north of the parallel. And in South Korea you have a nation 1/7 the size of Texas with the population in two major cities.

It becomes about the lesser of evils. If COVID is allowed to run unchecked, it *will* kill a large number of otherwise healthy (physically and emotionally) people. That is not trivialize the issues of mental health, it's just math. Hospitals are already being overrun, and we've seen nothing of what this could be. Imagine if it were left to run unchecked. When hospitals get overrun, mortality due to all causes increases. The first world essentially becomes third world due to lack of available hospital beds. Things that would have otherwise been routine end up killing you.

For those who keep referencing the projections page, those "not so bad" projections are based on social distancing working. Don't skip over the note at the top of page.

Absolutely nothing of what you said here applies to me. Whether or not we need to social distance was not my point...like at all.

What if you took New York out and made it a separate country. Numbers can always me manipulated to cause whatever effect you wish to make

The only thing I fear is that people like yourself won't take it seriously, or will constantly undermine the seriousness of it so that others don't take it seriously. If you haven't noticed, there are still those on this forum who think this is solely a political ploy to damage the president. I'm just trying to reinforce the reality that your actions can kill others. Since my refusal to use weasel words offends you, please block me.

Again, you're showing either you don't read the posts or you ignore what you've read, because I've given plenty of evidence here that I'm taking it seriously. Yeah, I suppose that does offend me. I'm not taking it in the manner and with the words you would like. That's the problem. Not just with you, but with a lot of people who can't handle someone disagreeing with them.

Weasel words offend me? Sorry, I don't even know what that means. But I have no reason to block you; I'm not upset; I don't have a problem with you disagreeing with what I say.

I was just contrasting the suicide and mental health issues that distancing drives against the benefit it provides. It wasn't really directed at you, you've just mentioned the suicide aspect a couple of times.
