Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

You're half right. Zep seems like a decent guy.
Luther is, too. He's just suffering from TDS and is chronically communist.
He's stubborn as a mule with his opinions. But you can see beyond the rhetoric...he wants things to be better. He also is doing a great job raising his kids; and that is noteworthy.

We should have done something like offer full pay for 5 weeks for anyone 50 and older that is employed, to stay home. Same offer to anyone with underlying risks of any age.

Something more strategic like this.

How much would that have cost?

Exactly.

From a medical standpoint there really isn't.

Politically is a different story.
This was like when they were telling people mask didn't work, No sense in buying them. At the same time they were imploring people to not buy them to make sure healthcare providers had them. All they were doing was trying to stop the run on them. I think they are trying to prevent a run on the two drugs.

Every drug commercial you hear on TV these days, side effects may include but not limited to 4 hour Bonner, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting blood, cancer, migraines, growing boobs, shrinking boobs and in some cases death but ask your doctor today about said meds!

My family laughs at the drug ads because the side effects for one of them are exactly the same as the symptoms of that particular illness. We’re all like well duh, why bother and how would you even know you’re having side effects.

There will be drastic changes in how people work after this is all over so I wouldn't bet that number is far off. In my little insignificant part of the world I can see a couple employees that I'm questioning the need for. Mainly because 1 is taking the "work from home" option as a vacation and the other from some efficiencies we've found.
This is revealing character no doubt. I was surprised how some of my guys showed their true colors. I thinkmthis stimulus bill will really hurt long term. I can see my guys wanting a layoff to get a significant raise.

Hahaha! What a joke. Obama is infinitely smarter and more equipped for something like this than Trump and it's not even close. Hell, Trump makes George W. almost seem competent.
Aside from his life in academia, I don't know what makes him smarter or more equipped. He isn't a blowhard, promoter. He's got a better family persona (hope it is true). But that's about it. Trump lies and many lose their minds. Obama lies about shovel ready or keep your doctor and many are like "lol, whatevs". Billions of dollars wasted on lies is where I draw the line. And both of them have wasted billions on their lies.

Sure. If Trump were a Democrat, which he has been most of his life, I would be just as critical. If Kasich had been the Republican nominee in 2016, I would have probably voted from him over HRC, but there is no way I could vote for Trump. He is dangerous and not competent for this job and I really think any rational person who takes off their partisan glasses can see that.
I ca agree he's not the ideal person for the job. Where we would disagree is I think he was the lesser of two evils and a better choice than Hillary. I would say back to you, if the left took off their partisan glasses, they'd see Hillary as the corrupt, despicable person and politician she is rather than screaming "right wing propaganda!" and defending her, still to this day. America had two bad choices in 2016. One of them had to win. America will have two bad choices in 2020 as well, but at least one of them won't be Hillary.

Thats possible.

I think it had more to do with Trump said "up", we re saying "down". JMO.

For someone "not competent" he's done a pretty decent job so far.

For me, his most lasting legacy as president is to highlight how incredibly inconsequential the president is in our daily lives. We hang on the president's words and thoughts as if he is a king. Reality is, very little they say or do effect the lives of people like you or me.
If Trump who some claim to be the most incompetent, moral bankrupt, lying, and worst leader to ever occupy the White House can preside over an economy like we are in, then the proof is in the pudding we are giving way too much credence to the position.

it is amazing the lengths people go to defend donald. It's as if they see a piece of themselves in his actions.
It's also amazing the lengths some go to demonize him. He's a narcissist, he's obnoxious, and he has diarrhea of the mouth. That doesn't mean everything he does is wrong. If you called it both ways, people would take you more seriously.

I haven't had a single tech, driver or equipment operator lay out or even hint at not wanting to work but all of them make a lot more than $600 a week. Now as for the women in the office, only 1 is coming into the office, the rest are "working" from home.

I'm making up stuff to call and sending emails to all of them and keeping a log.

It was an absurdly stupid package. I ask again, why would you mail public school teachers these checks? They are still getting paid.

He'll get to much credit from some on what he did and didn't do.

And he'll get too much blame from others.

Honestly, there is probably not a lot of difference in where we are if Obama, Bush, Clinton or Bush are running things right now. It all depends on which "team" you pull for. Thats essentially what politics has diluted itself to.
Said basically the same thing the other day.

I can see that piece every time they post. President should have never been on TV advertising any drug.

If its successful and helps it won't matter what he said about it 2 weeks ago.
If eventually Drs walk away from it and on to something else because its not working it won't matter what he said about 2 weeks ago either.

Short of the political stick, theres nothing here.

He knows if the economy collapses he can't be held responsible for that, I think he's a snake and I don't trust him one bit

I guess this may have already been debated yesterday, but....

It's been "Fauci is an alarmist" vs" Birx not citing worst case numbers to create panic"...

So, now that Birx suggests our best case scenario may be 100 - 200 thousand deaths, is she losing credibility, or is this the new accepted reality?

maybe there is some ambiguity in her comments?

Dr. Deborah Birx predicts up to 200,000 deaths ‘if we do things almost perfectly’

We call it as we see it, not how we see other things in partisan hindsight. But But But.

Probably true. I actually thought luther could be more reasonable than he's shown himself to be, so I'm a bit disappointed in him.

No, the military has to be involved for martial law.
I dont think that necessarily true. At least with how I was using it as more of a catch all "the government has suspended the rules" type of Martial Law.

With how much justifiable complaints about us locking too many people up in jail on a normal day this seems ridiculous. It's a state by state wide house arrest. Is there any precedence for this?

Sure, if it works then I guarantee you will care. Some of you will even say he was right, knew what he was talking about, and he did a good thing by mentioning the drug that he probably just heard of an hour before.
