I know that the jury is out on whether heat does anything to this virus. I'd like to see about 7 days over 85 in the next couple of weeks, just to see what happens. The weather forecast isn't cooperating with me though.

It's grown in FL despite temps in the low to mid 90s. I've read that heat/humidity makes it less likely to become infected by airborne droplets but doesn't help with coming into contact with it on surfaces.

Where are you guys seeing that? I'm seeing it go from 19,452 new cases Saturday to 19,913 new cases Sunday.

This is U.S. Maybe you guys are talking worldwide.

Johns Hopkins showed it dropping 400. That's really not super relevant for one day, it's happened several times before. The bigger good news is that the log graph is clearly rolling off. It won't be nearly as clear cut as Italy, because we are 50 state governments and 1 federal. The US as a whole is clearly doing better, but different states doing different things makes this a far more complex model.

The bottom line is that distancing is working. The other bottom line is that distancing is temporary. Only immunity is permanent. Either we get it, or we get vaccinated, and until that happens, this ain't over. Now, or May, or even July. If somebody comes up with a decent treatment, then immunity could easily come from letting us get it. Barring that or a vaccine, it'll be a slow burn of distancing until herd immunity is reached.

Worst part about this covid is it all but ensures JJ Peterson never has an impact here. Anyone have any confidence he doesn’t come to fall camp with a gut again?

Mainly because we can't keep the New Yorkers and yankees from flooding the state in their private jets fleeing New York, NJ and other yankee states and from Louisiana too. They got road blocks on I-10 and 75 coming into the state to try and contain. 60% of cases are in South Florida due to where most of the yankees are fleeing to in their luxury 2nd or 3rd homes or to rich family members.

Small biz is so fkd. So many of them are going to fail.

100% correct. I work daily with contractors which has their employees and most are FKD and my company can't help them either since they aren't employee's and co-employment laws, blau blau blau. I'm wishing for the best and my company has 29,000 contractors too and each has about 5-50 employee's so do the math.

The only good news is two of our largest retail customers Home Depot and Lowe's are considered essential and we are still running. Plus, our supply chain business and Last Mile divisions is all still working and shipping and moving and delivering supplies, medicine, mask you name it we are shipping it and delivering it still for now.

For all you golfers out there, any of you have any idea on what a 1960's era set of Wilson Staffs might be worth? For health reasons I don't play any more and thought I would just sell them. They have their original grips still on them.
Assuming not much - golf memorabilia is rare. Those aren't old enough to be valuable.

Unless there is relief on payments then they should be able to push through.

hopefully it's soon and fast real fast or they aren't going to survive. These small businesses have employees, insurance and credit cards and other payments all due but are struggling to find a way out. Small businesses is our lifeline for America not the huge companies like I work for that can withstand this and has billions stashed away for a rain day like this. The small business don't have this luxury or means. It's a sad and helpless situation right now for these poor small companies.

My brother-n-law got laid off 2 weeks ago from a small company and my step daughter got laid off last week from a small company and one of my contractors wife got laid off today from a small company. I thought the plan was the companies get the money, grants and tax incentives if they DON'T lay off employees but seems like small companies are doing the exact opposite from what I see.

Actually yes there were a number of people who said this was not serious and that it was being overhyped by the media. There were frequent comparisons to the flu and they expressed doubts that COVID-19 would even have the same lethality. Now you've got Fauci saying there could be 100,000 to 200,000 deaths in US. To say that "Nobody said this wasn't a big deal" is a complete rewrite of history.

But I would agree that many of us wanted to express optimism that this could be limited. The Chinese apparently have been successful in doing so but their methods would not be available in US (for example, sealing the doors of people who refused to quarantine). There are states that are still 4-6 weeks away from hitting their peak numbers. Florida and Texas particularly are going to get slammed. I don't believe this is being overblown by media anymore, I think it is reality.

?? You can think it's being overhyped by the media, but still think it's a big deal. In fact that's how I feel. It's a big deal. But it's also overhyped. You gave the perfect example. An "expert" from the UK says over 2 mil could die in the US and all the media ran with it and used it as official info from someone who really knows. And since the media ran with it, many believed it and repeated it and acted like that was the likely scenario. Yet Fauci's max numbers are 1/10 of that.

And comparisons to the flu are valid in the right context, unless you believe the 2 mil death number. Look at the numbers comparison between the two. Just a couple, it's estimated that as many as 50 mil have had the flu this year with as many as 700,000 hospitalized, and 60,000 deaths. Those numbers are more than the average, but not unusual. Two years ago almost 1 million were hospitalized with it and over 80,000 died. The major difference is that at this point we have no vaccine for it so potentially the numbers could be higher.

I heard Steve Moore say last night that he urged small business owners to go directly to their banks re: this issue and that the banks would process and get them the money through the new law very quickly.

they can still get the loans and incentives as long as they hire people back by june 30, so hopefully just temporary...
