Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

Two things:
1) the trucks are because these bodies can’t be just taken to the funeral home as per normal. And the morgue isn’t set up to hold for prolonged periods significant numbers because they are typically moved on to funeral homes quickly.

2) This quote bothers me: “If we are covid positive, we are expected to work for as long as we are asymptomatic. However we cannot get tested unless we are symptomatic,” he said. “They don’t want to test us because, at the rates we are exposed, we are likely all sick and we don’t know it.”

So, how do you know that you’re Covid positive and asymptomatic without a test? And if you’re asymptomatic, are you sick??

Here's a simple question: How many of those on here that work in patient care have been tested for the virus?

And a followup:
How many would be told to stay home if they had a positive test?

And one more: Are CDC guidelines being followed as far as EPP, in your facility?

My friend I mentioned earlier in this thread was not sick nor do he show any symptoms. He got a test because he had a fainting spell while giving a sermon and they took him to the hospital. He had gone on a mission to Africa in mid-February. His son and my son are in the same class and they made apple pies together at school on Friday before Pi day. None of his family had any symptoms nor did my son or my family.

Since he had to stay at home he did say he got a lot of cleaning and chores done.

No test, no offer to test from doctor, no offer to test from work.
Told to stay at home anyway because of symptoms.
If I told you how stupid they got before I left on 3-14 you'd be surprised.

I don’t work at a hospital but do work with patient care.... we screen every employee before their shift starts for temperature and any symptoms.... any symptoms and they have to stay home and quarantine and contact the covid hotline...... no tests being done...... I’m assuming you mean PPE..... we don’t have any N95 respiratories but no confirmed cases either.... we are now required to wear a mask at all times.... the same mask all day long unless it becomes soiled or contaminated.

Hardly , Yuengling Lager . When I drink beer , but why drink beer relaxing , when you can have bourbon ?

Ok... sometimes I actually wonder who actually drinks that stuff, is all.

Full disclosure, though, I do favor Natural Light when I want to combine chasing a buzz, with hydration.

I prefer gin or rum, never did care for the bourbon hangover.

Yeah, PPE... I have multiple Nurse and Nurse Practitioner/PA family members. From the accounts that I am receiving, your facility is doing it right.

Per state stats an average of 42,000 people die per year in Louisiana, that’s 115 people per day and since NO is the largest metropolitan area in the state you would have to assume the majority is in NO. So say they should be able to handle 40-50 per day (and remember not every dead body goes to the morgue) they should be able to handle just in NO 137 over 3 weeks.

Your turn.

I don’t know what the truth is. But are funerals taking place right now? Are they having to store bodies longer than normal?

How are they sick and don't know it? I knew when I felt unwell, my vision got swimmy and I had no energy. After ruling out causes I hydrated and ate, i knew it was other because it persisted. That makes zero sense.

I am part of a big hospital system and they appear to be trying to handle it the best they can.

Transmission rate still dropping, and if yesterday's number starts a trend, perhaps the drop in rate is accelerating.

A key factor is testing availability, and that will need to be watched to see if newly developed testing capacity can keep up if the numbers of new cases.

Testing data resource: The COVID Tracking Project

They track 122,157 positive out of 766,761 tests so far.

I'm also tracking growth of state cases per 10k population. This tracks the rise of cases, but once active cases in New York start to decline, I'll switch this to active cases only and track the decline in cases.

If the article is accurate.... the news found someone freaking out and wrote an article about her.

It’s about 11:30am where I am. Since the whole state has been shutdown for non-essential services (Alabama) I’m considering just calling it a day and start drinking and don’t stop until I go to bed. I literally have nothing else to do.
Isn’t it wonderful the government can now tell us everything we can and can’t do?

I'm a white liquor guy too (In before racist). Have you ever tried Hendricks Gin? Expensive but good.
