You joke about it, but the danger is it starts to become a self-fulfilling prophecy, and already has in many respects. The articles linked do not do anybody any good.
The middle ground here isn’t hard. Should we quarantine for a couple of weeks until we get a good handle on this? Sure, I’ve got no issue with that. But anybody talking about this going on for months after the data coming in shows this to not be nearly a bad is absolutely nuts.
Ventilators are not an issue right now.
ICU beds are not an issue right now.
Morgue space is not an issue right now.
Anything pushing a narrative counter to this is damaging. These are concerns, and things to track. That’s it, nothing more.
90% of the stories getting posted on here don’t survive the 20 second read past the headline. Anybody posting them should do due diligence. Anybody ignoring the substance of the article to try and make a point ought to be ashamed of themselves.
