I just want to take a second to thank all of the posters here that are making a huge difference in the fight against the virus. All you doctors, nurses, and medical workers out there are so important in our daily lives, and even more so now. Everyone still reporting into work to keep our utilities running and providing us groceries and medicine. It's going to get darker before it brightens up, so we need to keep all these individuals in our minds and hearts. Much respect.

My wife is about to work 7 days straight in the hospital. It's been a pleasure knowing ya, boys.

mine finally got her PPE, and with it, new guidelines for use...she's to wear the N95 mask the entire time she's out seeing patients, instructed to only take it down to eat/drink, otherwise it stays on til you get done seeing patients.

she's only to put on the goggles/gown etc...should someone present as symptomatic.

she's not exactly excited......but it is what it is at this point. i think she'll be fine, it's not her first day and she knows what she's doing from a hygene standpoint. has plenty of latex gloves, hand sanitizer etc...

but it's hard for it not to get your head, she got up this morning and admitted she didn't sleep much....

It’s stressful, and breathing through a properly sealed N95 for hours isn’t exactly fun

I think it is somewhat interesting to look at where the major hot spots and cases in volume are. Our large urban cities. And, yes, that makes some sense due to the dense population in those areas. But you would have thought the governors of those states and mayors of those cities would have been planning, gearing up and stockpiling supplies sooner once they knew this had potential to become a pandemic. In a lot of these areas the governors and mayors are liberal democrats who think the federal govt is the answer to everything(except when it comes to following immigration law since many of these areas are "sanctuary cities" and then they want nothing to do with the federal govt except when they expect billions of dollars to be handed to them.)

For instance, when Trump imposed the travel ban on China back in Jan., he was called a racist and a stupid fool by many in the media and the mayor and governor of NY. Cuomo can sound very intelligent at times in his daily updates but if you do some research on him, you wonder how in the heck he is still the governor serving his 3rd term with all the hundreds of billions of dollars he has wasted the past few years.

Not trying to be making a huge political statement here but there is a reason there has been a mass exodus out of NY the past few years.

on another light note....at some point over the last couple weeks i finally acheived a greater than 1:1 like to post ratio....cheagle rides and bbq in the future maybe?

Wow. Just realized I hit 2:1 like to post ratio. 2020 not so bad after all.

My wife is a hospitalists who does 7 on 7 off 12 hr shifts. It's tough.
My wife is the Director of Case Mgmt. at our hospital and has worked the last 12 days in a row. But with her having to give up one of her case mgrs to help in nursing, she has had to spend a lot of her time on the floor.

Regardless of who's to blame...there are still people getting hurt and dying.

There will be plenty of blame to go around when all this calms down. For now, we have to galvanize and do our part.

Hopefully everyone on both sides will pull their heads out of their asses and work together.

It comes down to population density and that’s it. There’s a national problem with lack of necessary supplies and that’s the fault of the neolibs and neocons that have run the country for the past few decades. Globalization is ok in some regards but shipping all the manufacturing jobs overseas was a huge mistake. Maybe this pandemic will lead to an effort to bring those jobs back

It's tough work on them. I work in telehealth, m-f so I'm sure I take it for granted.

Currently reading up on Nerd Wallet about starting an investment account for stock trading. Gonna be a lot to learn.
Main thing for most is to separate 'investing' with 'trading' and deciding which you want to do. Investing is long-term and with the market historically always on the upward trend, it's tough to lose. But you need to be committing the funds for 3-5+ years minimum. There can still be buying and selling involved (can be, not necessary), but usually only with an annual portfolio assessment or sporadically.

Trading is actively managing your portfolio, actively being the key word...aka 'day trading' where people can be buying and selling throughout the day, every single day. Some do it on a weekly or 2 week scale. But they are nosedeep in watching things every minute the market is open, looking for opportunities. There are winners and many losers. And many winners probably land somewhere around the market index anyway, unless they have a really high beta (high risk). Traders/managers that can outperform the market, including transaction costs, are few and far between. But it can be enjoyable to some, like playing poker. It is as much about risk management and keeping emotions in check as everything else. If you go this route, I would research Fundamental Analysis (FA) and Technical Analysis (TA) and see which you may want to dive into, though a knowledge of both is helpful. After that, you'll want to test your trading model for many months before implementing it with real money, to see if it works.

Looking ahead at the SEC Channel UT day, I wish they would have played some older games.

The UK basketball game from this year is not exactly great to watch for the first half. Would love if they would show a game from that 07/08 basketball season.
Yeah, I agree. We have until September to wait on new games, so hopefully, they will have a few more Tennessee days and show some older games.
