Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

We all hope it fails to wreak the havoc foretasted.
My take will be that social distancing helped; how much? .....will always be unknowable.
It seems ridiculous to blame the media when it was a world wide event and many countries responded much more aggressively than did the US.
And if any media is to blame, it would be social media. It was the social media coming out of China that was the foundation.
Was that a good thing or a bad thing? Or maybe a little of both?

To give the media a pass would be dishonest.

Actually you would be wrong, once again. Patients on ventilators are often moved, both in the hospital and from one hospital to another. Every day, patients are moved within the facility where they are being treated, to the MRI for example. Medical Helicopters transport patients-on ventilators-every day. There current science and medicine are just thrown out the window if it helps the anti Trump argument. It looks foolish, and is sad.

You are way to hung up on the people trying to make Trump look bad thing, but I really don't care.

The logistics of moving a patient are far more challenging than moving equipment to a makeshift location. In a perfect world where we have adequate equipment and personnel to ensure the safety and well being of the patient as well as those personnel, I'd say go for it, but we don't. We have to weigh the available resources, which are in short supply.

A few things to consider here:

1) We're by far the largest of those (honest) countries. You can't trust numbers from state run media

2) We're testing more than any other country. Isn't that what the Trump critics were pushing for?

3) All these case numbers are bogus. Nobody's testing everyone. The only accurate numbers are fatalities

Incorrect. This is a famously misleading claim by Trump slurpers.

While, for example, we have more tests outstanding than S. Korea in raw numbers, as a percentage of the population, we are well behind them.

If the landlords are smart they renegotiate the lease and add a year or two on the back end.

That was my idea a couple of weeks ago with mortgages and rent. Just extend the terms, beef up the unemployment assets and provide small business loans. Forget this $2 Trillion monstrosity for now and maybe only consider it down the road.

Observations...

No one chastising Trump for using "Chinese Virus" has advocated changing the name of "The Spanish Flu."

Why shut down schools and cancel sports for the high schools and such, when they can go to Walmart and Lowes and be exposed to more potential infection than at school and ball games.

People who even thought Trump was giving (or capable of giving) vaccine advice should not be voting, or shopping in the fish tank section at PetSmart for that matter.

I found out my wife is a hoarder and panic shopper.

Have plenty of acreage to expand garden and can vegetable. Have plenty of room for a cow. Got deer, turkey, rabbit, squirrel, dove, fish. There might be something to this whole concept after all.

I am enjoying my wife not spending time at Walmart. Never knew I could have most of my last weeks check left one day before my next check.

OK, now you're changing the standard and that's dishonest on your part. The graph I referenced (which someone else introduced to this thread) was about raw numbers. You then conveniently change the standard to percentage and then claim that I'm wrong along with the President. That's dishonest on your part and I think you know better.

I'm talking about raw numbers. If you want to change the standard to percentage then you'll have to present a different graph and you'll also have to disregard the President's comments because he was not talking about "percentage" of the population.

Shame on you

The Z-pak trials,( hydroxychloroquine +plaquenil) is 100% effective in the French test all patients were cured within 6 days. Anyone with half a brain can look it up on line. Thank God, Pres. Trump pushed for and got passed the right to try act, also his insistence to allow for the mass use of the "new" drugs NOW, not after months or years of testing, will save lives, and our economy. Remember these drugs have been around a long long time. Their use is well understood, and they are cheap! Game Changer. Thanks again Pres. Trump! If the libs had their way, a million Americans would die, and our economy would be a repeat of 1929 as they believe this will help them grab power, and change our America to a new commie country, the nightmare is almost over.

It has to be. Personally I believe that the coronavirus is more contagious than the flu and can cause more severe symptoms therefore you will have more hospitalizations causing healthcare infrastructure + logistical issues. If the contagiousness of the coronavirus is true that means it can bring on more severe symptoms but is far less deadly than the flu.

Come on, it is quite apparent that a raw numbers comparison is invalid and utterly useless.

A country of one tests himself.

A country of 350 million tests 100,000.

You claim that the latter is doing a better job? You literally just promoted that logic.

You should be ashamed of yourself.

My tracking of actual daily new COVID-19 cases in U.S. and projections.
3/1 = 7
3/5 = 63
3/10 = 290
3/15 = 737
3/20 = 5594 (5522 median predicted)
3/21 = 4824 (6771 median predicted)
3/22 = 9359 (9650 median predicted)
3/23 = 10168 (11,800 median predicted)
3/24 = 11075 (12,800 median predicted)
3/25 = 13335 (15,800 median predicted)

Coronavirus Update (Live): 492,799 Cases and 22,192 Deaths from COVID-19 Virus Outbreak - Worldometer

Predicted new Case Ranges 3/26

3/26 15,000 - 18,300 median 16,660
3/27 17,400 - 21,300
3/28 20,900 - 25,500
3/29 24,900 - 30,500
3/30 29,200 - 35,700
3/31 34,300 - 42,000
4/1 40,000 - 49,000

Even though yesterday was our largest daily case number as expected, the curve does look a little flatter today than yesterday. We need it to flatten faster as the large number of new cases we are heading toward now will stress our medical system. Would love to see a number under 15,000 today, but I am worried about the new acceleration of cases in a number of states.

A key factor is testing availability, and that will need to be watched to see if newly developed testing capacity can keep up if the numbers of new cases.

Testing data resource: The COVID Tracking Project

They track 65,512 positive out of 484,286 tests so far.

Stay safe out there.

FDA is a useless Big Pharm protection agency.

Your hung up on trying to make yourself look good, but I really don't care. You start out with how hard it is to move a patient on a respirator/ventilator, and admit you aren't skilled enough to find anything on it, after your long research. Funny I found info in seconds, and it is common. Now you change the tune of your dribble. Failure to man up, common among dems.

Regarding the agent: That's their clientele and they have 100s of those. The agencies and accounting firms are related entities. They charge an unfair amount on the accounting side. The larger clients they have will send their subcontractors to the agents as well.

Regarding me: The answer is both. It depends on the account and what we have already. Some people are malicious with it and some just didnt know better or got wrong information from people who are licensed.
Ok this subject fascinates me because Ive seen WC fraud by a company who was in the process of merging to create a health system. They denied every wc claim for months, even those that were rock solid. That was in Indiana. All the complainants had to get lawyers.

To give the media a pass would be dishonest.
Who is giving them a pass? Their response will be studied and judged just as everyone's will be.
Fox downplaying and claiming a conspiracy only to morph into their current stance?
Trump saying it was nothing and then claiming he knew it was a pandemic all along?

statebystatecoronaviruscases.jpg

Also tracking the state by state cases per capita now that a large number of states are affected. This is sorted on the March 23rd data highest to lowest.

Your Trump drivel is mildly infectious, but most on here have had that disease for a while.

Move a patient or move a ventilator, take your pick, in some cases one makes more sense over the other. But if what Trump thinks influences your decision, you should offer a disclaimer.

This virus is exposing how inadequate polices , procedures, staffing , preparedness and corners that have been cut in a lot of hospitals. This will and should have ramifications for years to come on the way our frontline defense is reshaped starting with the CDC all the way through to local hospitals with negative air pressure rooms . Just think all of the things we are lacking , it’s not just ventilators and masks . How would you like to be the maintenance guy that gets called up when the alarm goes off in a negative air pressure room because the air filters are stopped up , and you have to change them ? There’s going to be a lot of things to think about after this is over .

Pres. Trump knew more than most, and acted faster than anyone else. In FACT he was accused by the libs (commies) of being a racist and xenophobic because he acted so quickly! Based on the fact that he appears to be the only one ACTING and acting early, why would anyone doubt that he knew it was a pandemic?

I was referencing raw numbers and by that standard I was 100% correct, as was the President. If you don't like that standard then feel free to give us other numbers. As to who's doing a "better job" as you put it, I didn't go there. I in no way attempted to compare Trump to other leaders.

At the very least, admit you changed the standard in calling my numbers wrong. At least give us that
