Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

What I don’t understand is the “essential employees”. Almost everything must be “essential” because everything outside of shopping centers, boutiques, and restaurants are still open.
Washington state’s stay-home order goes into effect tonight. The construction industry thought it was essential and exempt, but our governor sent out a memo tonight clarifying that only construction of essential facilities and emergency repairs may continue. So that was a shock and puts a lot of people out of work.

Consequently all my field work is cancelled for the foreseeable future. I don’t mind right now, it finally gives me a chance to get caught up on reports.

governors have to much power in this - and many of them are not qualified to even be a governor - like the billionaire clown in Illinois using daddys money to buy election

You realize it is silly to point to a data point if that data point wasn’t inappropriate don’t you? Was there a national emergency up to that point? Is there one now?

The typing is to
1)Remind you that it is incorrect to say Obama did nothing
2)Make the case that the response required for this pandemic is going to be fundamentally different than that required for SARS-CoV-2. And the actions being taken demonstrate that.

Comparisons are unhelpful to the current situation. As is citing a global upper range of deaths (lower range is more like 175k) when the US deaths were around 12k and we will pass that in the next two weeks if we don’t see a downturn in established trends due to the efforts being taken to quarantine.

I don't think so, but I am glad to see you have put it out there, TWO WEEKS, if in two weeks we don't see anywhere close to that, I hope you'll man up, if it does-I will. The "new drug" treatments are extremely efficacious. Now, I will add one caveat, if a large group of people, with under lying health issues, such as those taking the AIDS drugs daily start getting infected, then the numbers will really go up-in certain cities.

Oh noes! Reb’s gonna have to rectify that issue with a quickness.

I’ve got the water hose ran up behind the bowl , don’t tell her but when she flushes the last thing she is going to think about is squeezable soft charmin 😂

Edit : I may need a safe place to stay for a couple of days 😊

Report on study of Chinese cases: The top-line result that digestive symptoms occur in roughly half of COVID-19 patients presenting to hospital remains unchanged. Similarly, patients with digestive symptoms have worse clinical parameters than those without and took longer to seek care.

I realize we get this info from the Red Chinese commie party, but sometimes I think we get "info" from Red China via the National Enquirer.

Not sure but I'm sure the families of half a million people would have liked to have seen it

Let me put this in perspective for you. US deaths crossed the 900 deaths mark in late September 2009, 5 months after the first US H1N1 death.

The US crossed the 900 death mark today, three and a half weeks after the first US SARS-CoV-2 death.

Very different animals. Very different responses.

Help me out here. Are you slow or just gaming for political points. It’ll help me out if I know how to approach my responses.

My statement is fact, I don’t have to worry about manning up whatever that means.

We will pass 12,000 deaths within the next two weeks if we stay on the currently established trend. That’s just mathematical fact. And that’s all I said.

has anyone died from the flu lately or did that magically go away ?

Also just something interesting. There were only 18k lab-confirmed deaths from H1N1. The 175-550k estimates come from epidemic modeling. What do you think the modeling will look like for SARS-CoV-2 when this is done? What do you think it would look like in China if they hadn’t pursued highly aggressive isolations? In the US if we don’t pursue quarantines?

It should be obvious to anyone thinks clearly, and not trying to put their "special powers" to work, Pres. Trump's fast response, even though he was accused of xenophobia and racism- has saved a lot of lives, and/or kept a lot of people from getting the Bat Soup Virus. If Pres. Trump were to find a cure-himself, working late at night in the basement of the White House, the trash in our country would scream he should have done it sooner. There is no winning with these idiots.

That would be political points he's after. The Obama hate is just as intense as the Trump hate on here, just nobody wants to admit it.

Should I file this under ‘this isn’t a bigger deal than flu’?
I have little doubt that is not as big a deal as the flu, when you compare total deaths in the USA. When we compare for a full year, the flu, as it has been for decades, will be the boss. Of course this doesn't "take the place" of the flu, but if total deaths in the USA is your number one concern, the FLU is a, (as Joe Biden would say about Corn Pop) "Bad Dude". In all honesty I don't know if that was before of after he played with the hair on biden's legs, or sat on his lap.

I’ve got one guy in this thread going after Obama for not enforcing widespread quarantines in 2009 to prevent what turned out to be 12,000 US deaths over the course of a year and I’ve got you making abstract points that seem to be implying SARS-CoV-2 isn’t a big deal (apparently even if it’s killing a thousand people a day by next week as we are currently trending before) because people die of other reasons.

Champions of VolNation on late shift tonight I see.
