Several inaccuracies in your post. The fish tank cleaner wasnt a "medication" nor did they purchase it from a pet shop for that use as the fish tank cleaner was in their pantry already. They did not go out and seek it. Apparently one of the things you've forgotten is how people can obtain prescribed medication and that's through a prescription. This was not that.

You also specifically said "he was going to kill people". Which makes it YOUR blame game too. I'm disagreeing with you. Stupid people will kill themselves with their own stupidity.

He also shouldnt "stfu" about treatments being reviewed. If he mentioned it being in fish tank cleaner or household products, then I'd agree with you. He didnt.

Status of COVID-19

As of 19 March 2020, COVID-19 is no longer considered to be a high consequence infectious diseases (HCID) in the UK.


The 4 nations public health HCID group made an interim recommendation in January 2020 to classify COVID-19 as an HCID. This was based on consideration of the UK HCID criteria about the virus and the disease with information available during the early stages of the outbreak. Now that more is known about COVID-19, the public health bodies in the UK have reviewed the most up to date information about COVID-19 against the UK HCID criteria. They have determined that several features have now changed; in particular, more information is available about mortality rates (low overall), and there is now greater clinical awareness and a specific and sensitive laboratory test, the availability of which continues to increase.

The Advisory Committee on Dangerous Pathogens (ACDP) is also of the opinion that COVID-19 should no longer be classified as an HCID.

Confusion does not begin to cover it.

At the national level we have Trump coming on tv each day acting like a snake oil salesman. He paints an optimistic picture that does not match reality. Sometimes right then and there, but usually a few hours later, the professionals come out and tell us where he went wrong. And then we get Cuomo and others coming on, literally begging Trump for help. Which a few hours later he tries to convince us is not really needed.

At a local level, its not much better. In Florida we have Republican Governor DeSantis -- a Trump acolyte. Just a few days ago he held a press conference and joined the Trump illusion train and claimed no need to worry, not shutting things down. This, as Florida rose to fourth highest state on infections and health care leaders have hit the panic button such that a number of the larger counties have had to take matters into their own hands to lock down their areas to try to reduce spread.

Its like Trump and the GOPers that have bought into his false bravado don't see the news on Italy, or Spain. Or see what works. Either that or they just figure some sort of divine intervention is going to save their azz. Its getting to the point of absolute absurdity.

It is a prepper thing, but preppers are also checking the company and place of manufacturing along with matching the imprints on the actual pills. They’re looking for same line production runs. I don’t know of many saying “well that “sounds” pretty close to the actual real medication so let’s try it”.

It’s used to treat other conditions too, from what I saw. I think Lupus was one. In the article I read, his attributes motive was that he doesn’t want people who need it for those conditions to go without because it’s being potentially wasted on people with Corona.

You side with liberals more often than not. I just call them like I see them. The government didn't create any run on the drug. It was common knowledge that the combination of the two drugs was looking promising to tread COVID19. Blame the French if you want to blame someone for spreading optimism. As usual you fall in line with the liberals on here that blame trump for everything.

It is. I believe people who take it for lupus or arthritis can still get it.

Not saying that all Preppers are equally informed, or that some wouldn't be downright stupid. All this is more of a "what if" on my part, but I imagine some dim light bulbs starting glowing faintly on where to get the chloroquine over the counter.

Again, it's purely speculation, but with panic mentality at work, people are bound to make unfortunate decisions.

What Trump said and what the National Review says are two very different things.

Yeah, I don't disagree. Stating there are promising treatments would have been more than sufficient.
