Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

They'd fight for a month over what goes in the summary. The Dems would want it to say that the GOP wants give big business $500 billion, with no guarantees on how it will be spent or who ends up with the money, leaving open the possibility that it will benefit management and large investors but not the front line workers. The GOPers would want it to say that the Dems want to include tax breaks for solar power and election auduts to ensure accurate vote counts.
I'm not a fan of "too big to fail". If big corporations haven't protected themselves with solid trough measures during emergencies then their overpaid CEOS need to go. I'm all in on the bail out for small business, all in.

I could speculate, but to what extent they are in there is basically someone's characterization, of it's present, possibly previous state, no way to know.

The Republicans are doing a better job of driving the narrative, but their methods stink pretty bad.

That's the problem.

Mitch controls the Senate. He is holding these pretend votes so as to float the narrative that its the Dems irrationally holding it up over pet projects. Put pressure on them to support the bill even thought it would hand billions to the wrong people.

I mean, why have a Treasury Secretary waiver on the buyback ban? There is no reason for that. Its just to create a loophole they can later exploit so that top ownership and management can use the money to bloat their stock prices some more. Its despicable of the GOP to insist on that provision.

I'm thinking this Kerfuffle will be settled in November unless the democrats figure out how to delay the election.

It's probably pointless pointing that out here, but I think more see it than will admit it.

Wait there's more.

Eliminating the USPS debt. Why is that there?

Minimum funding for community newspapers. Why is that there?

Expansion of use of Minority Banks/Credit Unions?

Grants for conducting risk limiting audits of results of elections?

corporate board diversity?

carbon emissions of airlines?

They may be or maybe not worthy items to pursue but they do not belong in this bill.

Go make your own bill for these things that are not associated with pandemic relief.

If they are so important, let them stand on their own, don't pork them out on emergency legislation.
