Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

I just wish our men and women in the house and Senate could put politics and policy aside for a few weeks to work together to help the American people. But right now we have a few on both sides of the aisle acting like children. AOC, Pelosi, McConnell, Romney all should be voted out when the time comes and I hope people are paying attention.

I still think it's unbelievable that somewhere we didn't have a reasonable stockpile of protective equipment. I mean, I get the cost of the ventilators and how stockpiling those would lead to problems of obsolescence. However, we've heard about chemical and biological warfare for years (not saying this is either on the part of China or anyone else), and I don't understand this country not having basic protective gear. That's not on Trump either. It goes way further back than that.

Agreed. And we have a lot of shuttered/good military bases that could be staging points across the country for distribution of these items.

They don't sail under the US flag for tax purposes, so they shouldn't get any tax-funded bailout.

And one of the additional reasons they do that is so they're not subject to US employment laws.

One this I agree-also the ships were not manufactured in a US shipyard.

I've been a little behind on the news conference... but did Trump just suggest that his "kids' company" needs a bailout?

Details are sketchy but apparently $500 billion of the proposed aid is corporate, with no, or very few, restrictions. That's why the Dems opposed it an hour ago. May need Trump to weigh in on the no stock buy backs.

Then I encourage threatening it.
No you don’t. The gov strong arming commerce is not a good thing. I’m going to guess 99.9999% of any company contacted by a simple request will reply “of course, happy to help. What can we do to help you”

But doom on the head of that 0.0001% that doesn’t understand what the DPA empowers the government to do.

Damn near impossible while Super PACs exist. Not impossible, but money spent on advertising shapes what we believe, and Super PACSs have mountains of money to drown out the messages of those that don't.

All this money being donated from celebs and corporations to fight covid.... where does it actually go? Are they giving it to hospitals to purchase equipment or to local governments? Or to community foundations to hand it out?

Thanks. I was sort of half paying attention, but he was going on about Trump Org, or whatever it is, making sacrifices for the nation, and then went into saving our "Great Companies."

What is the threshold for an “airborne” designation?
You have to be able to catch it from the air.
What is the threshold for an “airborne” designation?
I don’t know if there is an exact length of time that it would be required to “live” in air but to catch coronavirus someone would basically have to sneeze right on you or you’d have to touch a surface they’ve infected through contact. For example, measles can live in the air for 2 hours. That is not the case with CV19 and thank goodness. We would see much greater spread.

I don't know their criteria. They also don't account for time lag for the death rate as the CDC does with other viral tracking. I don't believe the recovered rate is 0.05%, but I have seen these figures used multiple times to claim a definitive trend in the death rate. If you don't believe the recovery rate is 178/32,544, you also should not believe the death rate is 403/32,544.
So what is the death rate? How did you arrive at it?

JFI, I agree that doing it this way is not accurate but it's what we have to work with. There are many uncounted numbers of those that have been asymptomatic, those who have stayed home ill and not reported and those who have fallen ill and not been tested. I believe that the death rate, at present, is much lower than 1%.

I read that Italy screwed up by having the sickest people being treated in the hospital rather than in quarantine at their home with medical professionals making house calls. Wonder if the US and CDC will consider this approach?

"People are feeling pent-up, they want to get outside.. they want to get onto airplanes.."

maybe a little paraphrased, but... airplanes?

It's a chance to put the pressure and accountability on someone else. He never misses a chance to do that.

China
Media
Democrats
Prior administrations

But he gets an A.
Any of the four listed would be correct, but answer #5 has been deleted, it would have been "the most correct". ALL OF THE ABOVE.

Well I see the Problem Solver President We Have Is sending Plaquenl (Chloroquine) to new York to be administered to Sick People; instead of "Clinical Trials" before the sick can be treated with it. The Drug is relatively safe; been used as a treatment and Preventative for Malaria for years. Plaquenal has been very effective in Cov19 cases thus far, though limited; but like around 95%. Bravo President Trump! I noticed the Little Dude from the CDC wasn't in the PC Today. Good! He of the Government Bureaucracy.

I'd also add supply chain workers, truckers, doctors, nurses, etc.
Or the people making toilet paper
