Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

One thing he should have required, is that anyone driving while intoxicated, put their blinkers on.
Ha! In today’s crazy times if he said that I bet some would actually comply. I love how some law enforcement departments are coming out telling people they won’t pull you over for traffic violations or charge you for minor drug offenses. They must be nuts! I understand if they want to change their processes to be able to handle emergencies but don’t tell everyone you are doing it.

There have been a few rumblings about it, but at some point the fact that any politician, NBA star, or movie star can apparently get tested by making a phone call even when next to no symptoms, whereas people who are sick have to get a doctor's order and go to a drive through set up just seems wrong.

Well you are advocating more of this. These will be the last people affected on a serious level by the economic tsunami created by the hysteria you back.

He has always been trying to make a name for himself as that person though. If it's an issue, he is the one that says "wait a minute".
I don't agree with his family politics but I always thought his father was a good man.

I would think the expectation is the death rate would lag significantly for a week or two as testing increases. If 5,000 people are confirmed as ill today, whatever percentage of these cases ultimately result in serious cases, death, or recovery won't be factored for a week or two. I would think the increase in the denominator will lag the increase in the numerator by the duration it takes for the illness to run its course.

Ya, that was why I made the joke, not so much a joke, really, more of a courtesy.

..the confirmed cases rate will outpace the lagging increased death rate.

There are other business out there that make similar items that need to step up then. Common sense. I clearly am not saying that we need Jack Daniels to start making hospital beds or mobile hospitals. But I'm sure some furniture companies in North Carolina or manufactured home builders in the southeast could fill those needs.

I just thought of something... In the midst of this shortage on toilet paper, maybe these newspapers like the NYT, USA Today, The Tennessean, etc can voluntarily come together to help restock the country.

And it seems they find out in hours. Average people takes days it seems as well

So the huge increase in confirmed cases comes from New York with 12,000 new confirmations. Dropping their mortality rate to 0.5%.

There was an article from an Italian doctor about this posted earlier. Everyone now has been put into such a frenzied panic that at the first sign of a sniffle they think they have C19. Then they go to their doctor and get tested, or an emergency room. And then people who test positive were often being admitted (in Italy), where they infected the people who were in the hospital because they were already sick. Bottom line is that no amount of testing at this time is better than just staying home and self isolate if you feel sick. Once tests become widely available, then it would be worth knowing to trace your contacts to prevent further spread. But until then, testing isn’t going to by itself solve anything. Just stay home if you’re sick.

This isn't a conservative vs. liberal issue. Bill Lee is a conservative. And then there was this insanity from the Trump administration reported yesterday.
DOJ Wants to Suspend Certain Constitutional Rights During Coronavirus Emergency

And don't get me started on the Earn It Act. Slippery slope we are wandering down, I'm afraid. It's like the Patriot Act on meth. Everyone's hands are dirty.

Why would anyone want to give the government more power and control than they already have?

Shouldn’t we be trying to take it away and enable people to become more independent?

Some people are going to have trouble paying child support to stay out of our jail. The courts will be flooded with lawyers trying to making a living trying to get a baby's mama money.

And those dads should get reductions in payment during this period where businesses are being forced to close by that very same govt that wants to put hem in jail.

LOL. Exactly. People are getting all spooled up over 'rates' when as more cases are discovered, and survived, those rates will drop.

I'm in NY right now and I can't wait to get the F out of here. I have been alone in my apartment for 2 days, and I am going to the airport in about 4 hours to get on a virtually empty flight to go home where I will sit until this blows over.

Some are way too willing to stay home if told and not go to work if told
