Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

That’s definitely got to be a concern. Everyday that this continues, the layoffs are going to mount and people will get desperate. Hopefully there’s some good news in the next 7-10 days.
This is why you bite the bullet. Shelter in place 14 days and rip the bandaid off. We're going to get back to life as usual quicker if we do that. If we don't I'm afraid this could go in to Fall.

You'd have to have each hospital ICU number of rooms. Then how many of them are already being used. But hospitals setting up beds in parking garages tells you they're worried about it.
False. It’s prep not worry. Tennessee Hospitals have plenty of negative pressure beds just in case

How is it delusional to think that a foreign attack on US soil is more significant than an overreaction to a virus?
I just told you why and how. What kind of health, safety and "social distancing/1A limiting" govt bureaucracies are going to be created because of all of this?

It may not trigger your fear like 9/11 did, but this unquestionably is having a greater impact on daily life than the attacks did.
But that wasn’t the question. The question was which one has more national significance, assuming nothing else really would qualify. I agree this one is more disruptive to daily life but I believe a foreign attack in our soul is more significant than a viral attack. If it turned out this was actually an act of war from China then that is a different story. And right now the death count for Americans isn’t even close.

On a temporary basis. Life will go back to normal and the government will create additional protocols behind the scenes. 9/11 changed this country forever. Every single time you or anyone boards an airplane things are different and that’s just the impact on us. It also changed our defense behind the scenes. It an opinion and mine is 9/11 is more significant.

Physicians pleading with TN Governor to order a "Shelter in Place"

"Per the escalating and destructive situation with the COVID‐19 pandemic, we humbly ask you to act swiftly on behalf of the citizens of Tennessee" the letter began.

The letter went on to talk about the replication rate of COVID-19 compared to influenza saying COVID-19 is "60 to 100% more “efficient” at replicating itself."

The belief is that on an average of 10 patients get both influenza and COVID-19, the ones with influenza will pass it to about 13 people while the other will pass it to about 20 to 25 individuals.

"The mortality rate of COVID‐19 is at minimum 10x, and possibly up to 34x deadlier than seasonal influenza," says the letter.

The group of physicians is requesting that effective midnight Sunday, March 22, that Tennessee declare the shelter in place act for fourteen days with only essential personnel be deployed during this emergency.

They also are requesting that anyone returning from international and domestic travel self-quarantine for fourteen days.

I wonder how many of these physicians would be willing to stake their careers on this being at least 10x as deadly as the flu.

This will impact our lives 100x more than 9/11. Government overreaction will dwarf that of 2001.
Government overreach already is and I don’t disagree that it is more impactful on our daily lives but an attack on our soil killing thousands is more significant than a virus killing hundreds or even a virus killing a similar number. I don’t see how some go from this is basically like the flu to being more significant than 9/11. That’s quite a jump and maybe it is different people as I can’t keep up with everyone’s beliefs on here. Basically it comes down to what you believe. I do believe the virus is having a bigger daily life impact but I believe 9/11 to be more significant. They aren’t the same thing.
