Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

18,000 lost to the flu this year.

In the months from November through February that equates to 150 per day. Average down to be conservative and call it 120 Lives lost to the Flu.

Every. Single. Day.

Stop buying the hysteria, or enjoying it so much, or whatever it is you and evil and LG are getting off on here. The numbers - when in context - do not support this BS the media is peddling.
If I go out and shoot 100 people I guess it's no big deal because the flu kills more.

Sorry to tag on to your post again. Just repeating a thought. The 1960 flu used on our current population would have been around 300,000 deaths

I know. I know. Flatten the curve. It is the hippest thing going. It is even cool enough to enable government to overreach.

Can’t speak to government overreach. I can speak to the opinion of a family member who is an infectious disease Dr. I trust his opinions on this. He’s on board with the containment measures. He says this thing is different because it spreads before you have any symptoms. Containment becomes a nightmare. If it gets ahead of us lots of people die because we run out of resources. If we contain then it is likely just like any other flu.

Again I don’t know if it’s been handled correctly. I’m glad it wasn’t my call.
And Again, England will be the litmus test.

It’s sensationalist journalism at its best. The way I read it is when the courts are closed due to a national emergency the DOJ wants to be able to hold people longer than they are normally allowed to without seeing a judge.

Isn't this the case say in NYC right now? The courts are closed and a national emergency is in effect. It is debatably constitutional to suspend, but I aint liking it.

Article 1, Section 9 of the US Constitution states, "The privilege of the writ of habeas corpus shall not be suspended, unless when in cases of rebellion or invasion the public safety may require it."

No way this is more significant than 9/11 to me as an American. That was a foreign entity choosing to attack us as opposed to a natural phenomenon that cannot be controlled. Worldwide this certainly has more impact but you said national so I say 9/11 was more significant. I know this isn’t over yet but to me much of this is an overreaction but nobody felt that way following 9/11.
You are delusional. 911 gave us Homeland Security Act. WYF do we have to look forward to after this?

Spoke to my friend from Piacenza Italy tonight. He's lost five people he personally knew. One of the five was his priest, who likely contracted it from performing last rights. He's scared sh*tless for his parents. They're being smart though (haven't gone out for two weeks).

When it hits home that's when some people will take this more seriously, and it already has for many. It is not getting better.
