Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

I’m not going to lie, Trump has some blame here too. His constant trolling of the media and saying things like that’s fake news and what not...he turned them against him. He invited a lot of these attacks.

It doesn’t excuse the media pushing panic the way they are, but maybe the attacks and fear sensationalism would be more mild had he just played nice. Right now it’s a frenzy because the media can generate clicks AND attack Trump with relative impunity.

It would be nice to just get the news again, and nothing more.
They were going to attack him regardless and the days of just getting the news are over

How well did America do with prohibition? We've already been there and done that and it epically failed. You have an entire country of people already full of fear(there are exceptions obviously), you virtually force isolation, you strip away what they do daily and what entertains them. Let all of that sink in for a minute...

Now, come out and tell all those people they can no longer buy liquor and and all of those stores will be closed. I can promise you the shlt would hit the fan.
Not to mention the hard core alcoholics that will start DTing. They have to have access to alcohol.

You can’t imagine. All of my restaurants are now to-go only. I essentially laid off 700 people in 4 days. They will have the ability to come back when business does. Until then SOL. Managers will be next in a few weeks. If this is still going on in June I will be furloughed. I will be fine but these people are fubard.

My two favorite watering holes closed for good today in town.

At least my favorite bar is still open (bourbon collection not pictured):

We would be numbers that dwarf our current total cases? Really, how? How can you make that claim if we didn’t have the capacity to test for it? All your numbers are showing is our testing limitation.

For the record, I wish we could show real numbers here. There is absolutely nothing in the data that states the fatality rate isnt lower and our current confirmed cases are smaller than reality.

You are acting like every confirmed case is serious, every confirmed case requires hospitalization. That simply isn’t the case. Not by a long shot. Nobody under 30 has even died in Italy which makes it reasonable to assume the number of serious cases is small in comparison to everybody that really got it or has it. Hell, asymptomatic people and mild symptoms people aren’t being counted in any of you daily tracking numbers and we have no clue how much of the data set they make up.

I agree that:

* current confirmed case will always be smaller than actual cases (but how would that not be true with every disease)
* many people have relatively mild symptoms (I have never said otherwise so stop projecting)

I disagree with:

* your prior statement that we would have 1,000s of cases in January (we would have clearly seen it)
* that people with mild symptoms are not counted in the total numbers (they absolutely are)
* Italy even has begun quarantining asymptomatic positive cases now in an effort to slow the spread

I also notice that:

You have provided zero proof of your assertions that there were large numbers of cases in January.

Where is that proof?
