It's 2020. There's nothing honorable about it.

"Oh, you're a woman so if I have a meeting alone with you, there's a solid chance I'll either cheat on my wife with you or you'll accuse me of it."

So, you think since it's 2020, it's no longer honorable to be faithful to your spouse?

I respect you Marcus, and you were respectful with your response, so I'm going to respectfully disagree with you.

I work in an industry where I manage a lot of young, attractive women. I've met with them one on one for years, and my girlfriends have never taken issue with it and I've run into zero obstacles because of it.

Record your meetings if it's really about covering your own ass. Not sure how that wouldn't fix the issue.

Recording meetings when 1 on 1 would definitely be a good idea. Good point. The reason I disagree though is perception. Public perception. A man, especially a Pastor, seen about town with another woman besides his wife (many of whom are attracted to and flirt with Pastors) , would start a landslide of rumors almost instantly. Sadly, it is just the way people are. Then you would have people thinking about finding another church to worship at, because a "cheating" Pastor isnt spiritually in step with God, and therefore is unable to lead the church or even pray effectively for those in need. Pastors are held to a higher standard by both God and society, and should always be beyond reproach. The Bible even says a man isnt fit to lead if his home and family arent in order...meaning the behavior of his wife and children can even disqualify him from leading a congregation.

Public perception is important sometimes. A woman who a pastor had never even made an inappropriate remark to could absolutely destroy his reputation and have him all but run out of town just because she felt rejected and made an accusation of him being forward with her. Just an accusation of impropriety is enough to ruin a man in many ways. Even a guy like you or me could easily be ruined by a rape accusation, and 99% of the time there is no penalty when the woman is proved to have been lying

This is a real problem in our society.

I see. Well, I figure we could cover it with the cost of a submarine. Maybe two. I'm not real sure, somebody can do the math, if they want.

One thing is for sure, our vulnerabilities are no longer a secret.

It would be interesting to see the math in building and maintaining a national "prepper" mentality. Just as interesting would be how long those costs remained justified when nothing happens.

Back to the original point I don't think it's realistic to believe we were ever going to be ready for something like this on this scale because people don't believe it's going to happen. Of course people will argue what "should" have this or "could" have that been done better. Monday morning QB'ing is a time honored institution. The true bottom line remains that people, from oneself to the top of the government, don't tend to invest resources in things that aren't anticipated to be used, especially at scale.

Your last sentence is dead on and it will be very interesting to see what changes come about as a result.

I'm too handsome to be accused of rape.

I guess I've just never been one to put much stock in public perception. I've been in a leadership position in an industry that had the ultimate medium of perception:

Yelp.

I'm a man of many talents. I can make a mean drink, teach others to do the same, AND I can have meetings with women without attempting to have sex with them.

It's hard juggling this much virtue.

So, based on your other comments though, you think men that don't like putting themselves in those situations makes them dishonorable. Why does it have to be that if they don't it's because they can't do so without wanting to have sex with them? That's a very narrow minded view of why someone makes that choice.

It's absurd to accuse anyone of being narrow minded when you can't so much as be alone with a woman who isn't your wife. Can you not have a female doctor? How about a female friend?

Yeah, expirations and such.. it used to be that we kept fallout shelters stocked... many of those are like time capsules now.

I'd suggest we use the short-term hindsight that we have now, to add to the foresight formulation. I suppose we are, but I really don't know to what extent.

Keep it equal. You need to post that to him as well. I mean, he is the one that took the cheap shot at someone else's belief.

He said "guys." I assume I am included to that and it's not just the Chartreusian monks who fear their own inadvertent desires.

Don't get butthurt over who he quotes.

If the government required mandatory community stockpiles teh only people that would get the stuff within the stockpiles would be the community leaders.

Capitalism is what will pull us out of this, the .gov will do nothing but prolong it.

What a bunch of crap. Communist China didn't seem to have a problem with masks in their hospitals. Heaven forbid some centralized planning benefit the people. Stockpiles are bad for business. Get it.

You too Dink, Take it to Dark Lord forum, since I'm pretty sure they won't allow you in Bible class.
