Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

The only good numbers so far are from China, which was trying to fudge things to make this look less severe. But everywhere else most cases are active.

COVID-19 mortality rates by age calculated by the Chinese CDC, so take them with a grain of salt:
  • ages 10-19: 0.2%
  • ages 20-29: 0.2%
  • ages 30-39: 0.2%
  • ages 40-49: 0.4%
  • ages 50-59: 1.3%
  • ages 60-69: 3.6%
  • ages 70-79: 8%
  • 80 and over: 14.8%
So this does mirror the flu rates pretty well, but every category simply has higher death rate except for small children who seem to be resistant to Covid-19.
South Korea 0.9%
Diamond Princess 1%
Germany 0.2%
US 1.7%

Note....

My response was to your maga 10 comment. No idea why my phone linked this comment of yours.....

It was a loaded question and you know it cause you used it.

He says 8-9 and says he could have done some things better and you and the left nail him.

He says 10 and u nail him.

Honestly, what response does not get him nailed and turned into a sound bite?

Got back from the grocery a little while ago. Only thing I couldn't find was ammonia - not critical because I'm not ready to paint - therefore, not ready to clean ceiling and walls. I got two of the three remaining gallons of 1% milk, and two of the last three Publix eggs on the shelf - they've obviously picked up some other brands though - so no critical shortage there. Wine aisle was fully stocked - fruits and veggies were showing some empty spaces. Canned food definitely had taken real serious hits - and I forgot the check for some frozen foods - dammit. Wasn't offended by 53 different varieties of Cheerios as I went down that aisle - hate Cheerios - oats are for horses. Now if you want a quick route from the back to the front of the store - the paper aisle - no people and virtually nothing on the shelf. As the guy and I were walking to the car I commented I usually park within a couple of spots of the last handicapped place, and he said, "and this time you are at the cart return" - and I was. He said Thurs and Fri were nuts - sometimes no open parking spaces at all.
I think the Thursday and Friday rushes were caused by school closing announcements, so parents unexpectedly needed to go out and buy groceries for kids (and themselves) staying at home.

I bet it could stay calm for the next few days until people start running out of food, then they'll try and panic buy again.

Do us a favor and show a link where you found this.

It started in China in mid November. They did nothing to combat it's spread in their own borders until late Jan. They ignored offers of help from the CDC/WHO.

This virus made it to the US and all around the world likely by mid-December at the latest. It was everywhere(in the world) without any acknowledgement or action because nobody new about it. The world would have had to put a travel ban into or out of China in November of 2019 for a virus they'd barely heard of. You know that wouldn't happen.

That's just the way it is now. One country sneezes, and the rest catch cold. I don't like authoritarian measures, but perhaps air travel needs some well designed circuit breakers in place similar to the stock market. It would be a great time after things settle down to take a hard look with a "lessons learned" perspective - it works elsewhere so why not consider it for applications such as the spread of disease specifically through international transportation..

He's bankrupted at least 8 companies.

Trump didn't write the bankruptcy laws, but he took advantage of them just like many other people. Look to legislatures for the source of the problem. Should business bankruptcies involve the personal finances of the people running the show - perhaps - I personally think they should, but you'll get a lot of different opinions there. I don't like that one person can walk from one bankruptcy to another because of opportunities in risky markets where that person can take the profits and walk away from the liabilities, but people in congress were well paid to write those laws. I'm really not fond of people who bribe congress and get favors in return either, but that's a fact of life, too. Fix that problem, and you and I might like the rules of the game a lot better.

I think this approach is coming to more cities this week.

The elephant in the room is their huge numbers of homeless and or drug addled populations . It’s going to be interesting and probably scary to watch the decisions on what should be done with them . Sooner or later , if this keeps progressing ( our attempts to slow the spread ) those populations will be addressed .

I appreciate the info and enjoy learning as much info as can..... Dyno keeps claiming that young healthy people have several side effects after recovery.... I have asked for links on some of the stuff he claims but he either doesn’t provide a link or he posts a link that is not related to the topic we were discussing.

I’ve read easily over 150 reports and documents from various medical & government sites in the past several weeks. Some have ultimately ended up posted here, by myself and others. I’m not going back to find them. Not to be an ass, but use search terms here and on google to do your own research and make your own determinations on what you’re reading.

Internment???

I am not sure we could do anything in November. The Chinese weren't exactly sharing what was happening until the virus was spreading. I have no problem criticizing the gov. response but to say if we kept the ERT that things would have been different is ignorant.
People keep forgetting that China is 100% to blame for the virus, for the spread of the virus and to any delayed responses.
