Coronavirus (No politics)

Let it out man. I post so much to let my stress out. My wife has a load of health issues, and I stay stressed. I pray a lot, and come on here and acr a fool😄. And you're probably right about the wine, my wife can't take decongestants. We don't drink, but I keep a bottle of liquor to make cough medicine. That stuff works great!
We're all family here man, let it out!

Thanks. It is mostly just boredom since I cannot carry on a conversation. I also wanted to get my symptoms out so that if anyone is having similar symptoms they at least have a sense of not being alone. I was getting so much information/disinformation it was really alienating and caused self doubt, then one of the internet personalities I follow came out with the same symptoms and it did help alleviate the feeling of being alone.

If I am allowed I will but right now I am just using this thread as a coping mechanism to go along with the wine. For some reason wine has treated the symptoms better than any over the counter medicine.
That's interesting you said that. There was a guy about a month ago that had it and said he got over it quickly drinking hot toddy's. Maybe there is something to drinking alcohol with this.

I feel it helps in two ways. One, relieving the general stress and malaise that does along with being sick. Second, I think it helps open up the airways, which also helps with number One.

FYI, I am not drinking wine all day but after being sick all day the wife and I open a bottle and relax before going to bed.

This video is from an older Brit who was on the cruise ship in Japan. He and his wife contracted the virus. They're in their 70s. He tells his whole story. I saw a later video where he finally got back home a day or two ago. It's a good watch.

You mean someone survived...I was led to believe that we’re all going to die from this....

If they run tens of thousands of tests in the next week the sheer number of confirmed cases in that round of results will stagger this country’s already fragile psyche. I don’t think folks understand or even believe the suggested R-naught figures.

It may not be like the flu, but to be honest, if we treated the flu with a much vigilance in terms of prevention on a personal level as this virus, the flu would be less of the issue it is.

The whole issue we are dealing with now, is the fact that people are not personally vigilant when dealing with viruses that spread easily. If you are sick, stay home, if you have a major runny nose and are coughing everywhere you go, stay home. People just don't have the decency they used to have when dealing with being sick, and this is why something as infectious as this virus is, is being treated as it is. It's not just the media driving the panic, but people's inability to be socially responsible as well.
I think you’re spot on. Many people will not stay home when they are sick. We have to be overly cautious, because so many people don’t do what they’re supposed to.

What the increase testing will show is how much closer the death rate is to the actual flu. The media will highlight the “new number” of confirmed cases to keep the panic going however.

Our governor in Ohio just ordered all restaurants and bars to close. Can still order pick up or delivery no sit down customers.

happened in Illinois also and bar owners are pissed about losing St Patrick Day business - the State should pay the employee wages if they are going to impose this kind of abuse of power on private business

Paying waiters, waitresses, and bartenders don't make much hourly wage. Their money is tips.

Yeah, but all it takes is looking at their declared tips on payroll and matching at least a percentage of that.

We're one of a very few countries that has a gratuity based front of house system. Proprietors save so much money by not having to pay the majority of their workers or insure them. The fact that there's even debate amongst them on whether or not to take care of their employees during closures is pretty ridiculous.

Ehhhh, if you're a bar owner in tourist hubs like Chicago or Nashville, you're pretty much morally obligated to close up shop and pay your own employees instead of relying on the state to do both.

It's super irresponsible to not only put your staff and their families at risk, but basically run a hub to spread this.

Peru declared a state of emergency last night. All travel international and domestic is cancelled and we're on a military enforced quarantine for at least 2 weeks.
