Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

He hasn't been dismissive. To the contrary. He has been much more serious than Trump.

I will say, as we watch this developer I feel like Trump is doing better. He seems to understand it is as serious as he'd been told.
It's kind of late for that now. His worshippers don't understand the seriousness of it because he was dismissive of it earlier.

Nope. Been in China(a place with 1 billion people) for 6 months and it is reasonable to believe is has been here for 3-5 months. 6,000 deaths worldwide.

H1N1 18,000 deaths just in the US in 6 months.
In 2009, H1N1 killed around 1,000 in the first six months, and around 12,000 over the entire 12-month outbreak. No need to exaggerate.

H1N1 had a mortality rate of 0.02%, or about 100 times less than covid-19. We were able to test people and develop vaccines and antivirals relatively quickly. Also H1N1 has been around and older people already had some immunity to it. This is a novel coronavirus for which we have little protection. It's not a great comparison and the numbers aren't exactly reassuring.

I’m not saying this will kill 100x as many as that swine flu did, but I don’t think it’s outside the realm of possibility. Anyway, it’s not a good look to guess at fatalities. I think the posts here saying it will be less than that swine flu or less than X amount are very premature. This is just now taking off and far from being under control. We'll know more in a few weeks. Let's hope for the best and prepare for the worst.

So 41 deaths since Jan 14 from corona.

8,200 flu deaths. But yea, it's a problem.

Don’t get me wrong, I think there is significant media hype. The 8200 flu cases is against millions infected. ‘17-18 was a bad vaccine year and had more infections and deaths. But still had a lower mortality rates than this virus.

Anything we can do to keep millions from catching this thing will be good.

She rubbed it for me for about 5 seconds and said keep rubbing it. I was still rubbing it walking to my truck. Lol

You know the data does seem to be all over the place. SK has tested 250,000, yet only has 8,000 confirmed cases and a less than 1% mortality rate. They live elbow to elbow just like Italy, but not sure of their ages. It would seem that it was not as contagious with this data. But then we hear Ohio is saying they already have 100K potential infections, which would extrapolate to millions nationwide and only a few deaths, and this supports the views that it has been here for months.

Nobody knows how bad it might end up being, but from what I'm hearing, it will make a few rounds, at least. Hopefully it will take less of a toll that some have predicted.

I know one thing. If it goes off the rails, I don't want to hear some of you claiming we're hoping it gets worse, just to make you look foolish.

Wouldn’t the cruise ship be a good place to look for true mortality rate? I know it’s only one sample but I think they tested most people on the ship?

Same experts that predicted an ice age back in the 70s or the ones that predicted Miami would be under water from global warming by 2020?
According to AOC. don't we just have 10-12 years left anyway?

Ya, except they will be getting premier care, for sure. Would be interesting to know the ages, and all.

Trump could admit to creating the virus with China and his cult would still support him.
On the flip side, he could cure cancer and some of you would still claim he's the most despicable, horrible person ever. It goes both ways. In the end, he's not responsible for the spread of this virus. Sure, he made some missteps and said some dumb things, but this virus wasn't going to be contained. Blaming him for that is stupid, and it really is nothing more than a political smear job.

Ohio doesn’t have anywhere close to 100k infections

"The buck stops here." -- Harry Truman

"I don't take responsibility at all." -- Donald Trump

SMH.... Those who would rationalize Trump's statement simply won't get it.
It's a bad sound bite, but how is a virus Trump's fault? If a Dem were in office, would you hold them responsible for the spread of a virus? People keep politicizing this. Yes, it could have been handled better, but some things you can't place blame for. **** happens.
