Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

Costco Knoxville this morning at 9 AM, 30 minutes before opening.

We usually go early on Saturday mornings because it is usually a pretty sparse crowd at that time.

Not today.

How much longer can this last? At some point all the people panicking will have bought all the stuff they "need," right?

No, it will be the success of the MSM at spinning it into something it isn't which they are already immensely successful at doing. 'Pandemic'... such a nice word to use when you want to panic the public. Do you even know what that means?

Complete spin.

Pan mean across I think, i don't really know what demic means, I could look it up, but didn't want to cheat.

So, WHO deemed it a pandemic, but maybe the media should have kept it hush hush?

I'm pretty certain that China has screwed themselves with the rest of the world's economy after this virus. The icing on the cake was accusing the US of creating the virus and infecting the world with it. Their standing in the world is over and the mass exodus of manufacturing from China has begun.

Hope so, but honestly, memories and resolutions fade pretty quickly after the crisis is over. It will only take some minimal price hikes for made in America goods to complete the amnesia. I'll bet China was really pissed by this though; they were so close to manufacturing dominance and putting our manufacturers completely out of business, so they could ramp up prices themselves.

If Trump's Charlotte rally is still on, he'll probably toss it out to his devoted followers.

Well, ultimately it's his CDC that made multiple mistakes, including restricting individual states from handling it themselves. S Korea is kicking ass because they focused on having enough tests. We do not have enough tests. We've had huge shortages. You might give him a pass on all that, but then the ignorant mfer blamed people for not getting tested, revealing he has no idea what's going on.

South Korea has the population of Texas.

Not remotely apple's to apples.

The market provides what the consumer will buy. Many consumers want a cheaper product, so that means producing it somewhere cheap.

That's true until liquidity to buy that stuff dries up because people over here are no longer manufacturing the products they buy. It's like trying to defy gravity ... gravity always wins. The Chinese got their chance because we ignored systemic friction ... unreasonable labor practices, minimum wage legislation, and other government intervention. Our economy may not be a machine; but physics, thermodynamics, and other physical laws apply nevertheless.

well they got nothing better to do since everything is shut down
The economy is hurting, just look at the malls or food stores, nobody is out spending money. Some folks seem to believe if cruise ships aren't doing a huge trade, the entire economy of the US is about to fall off the flat earth.

Chinese labor is modern day slavery-I'm always amazed at how many people want goods made by slaves. Red China is the most polluting country in the world-by far-yet I'm always amazed at those that want to purchases Red Chinese products, but would boycott any American Company that polluted 1/10 as much!!! Woke......

People like Huff keep it afloat. Lowest possible price=good. Everything else=irrelevant.

This was posted on my facebook timeline:

Friends (IMPORTANT): A friend of mine, Dr. Kyle Abernathy, who is an elementary school principal in Floyd County (GA), posted this a few hours ago. I knew he and his wife had been sick with the flu, but it appears that it went into pneumonia, and now Covid-19. He and his wife April are both in quarantine at Kindred Hospital in Rome, GA. Please pray for both of them! Also ... wash your hands ... and stay away from large communal areas.

Please read Kyle's post:
From Kyle: I have tried to be quiet on social media and have enjoyed reading all of our friend's and families' posts for prayer. I am so encouraged and uplifted to know we have such a strong support team behind us. As of now, April and I remain hospitalized. She is critical but stable, requiring a ventilator and sedation. Her body needs strength. Please pray for this specifically. She is my bride and I miss her. I want to be able to see her when she's better.
I am on oxygen now 24/7. I have a hard time breathing without it and get very winded moving around. I basically just lie down all day to keep from having breathing problems and coughing fits. I am on fluids and lots of meds. The nurses at Kindred are angels.
As for the "C" virus, it is confirmed that both of us have it. But as quick as it came on us, it has to leave and bow down to the name of Jesus! Speak His name over our situation. We got the virus in a crowded place, no fault of anyone's! We never traveled. I even had a positive case of Flu A and both of us had pneumonia. To us, "C" virus wasn't an option. We washed our hands. Trust me, I always tell my three at home to wash up!
If you think the media is sensationalizing this, go ahead. But think about the 38-40 confirmed cases in GA, including us, before you check yourself "safe." This is an opportunity for us to pray, to lift each other up, and stay vigilant.

It's impossible to avoid completely but yes, support local small business owners on as many levels as possible. I gladly pay a little extra and tip well above the norm wherever possible.
