Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

All participants in this forum still in the clear? Next week is going to be a wild ride I fear. Cases will spike as testing rolls out in greater numbers.
There is legit concern. My wife has surgery this coming Wednesday in Atlanta. Don't really wanna go, but it's a much needed surgery. Hopefully we all stay clear.

I'm pretty certain that China has screwed themselves with the rest of the world's economy after this virus. The icing on the cake was accusing the US of creating the virus and infecting the world with it. Their standing in the world is over and the mass exodus of manufacturing from China has begun.

Just went to order some things on Amazon Pantry. Basically everything I usually get is sold out. Amazon is going to make a killing these next few months.

Boom and bust - Amazon depending on how they do logistics may not take the hit directly, but somebody will. The market for a lot of stuff is going flat after the panic and panic buying die off ... besides there won't be as many of us to buy stuff anymore.

You dont get it. It's not responsibility for the virus. Its responsibility for minimizing it when it should have been a priority, its responsibility for ignoring the professionals and the scientists for too long, its responsibility for shaping policy based on what he thinks makes him look good versus what will actually be helpful.

He's a terrible, incompetent, imposter of a President.
You're wasting your time. He's never done a bad thing....he's infallible...

They need to pay for what they’ve done

Yep, I’m just waiting for the riots, looting, and gone invasions to start. Sadly, I actually don’t think those things are out of the realm of possibility. I’m hoping this is just a one-time run on items and things will settle but I’m not so sure that’s going to be the case. If people cause stampedes over Black Friday what are they going to do when they can’t get something the believe is essential to living, even if it actually isn’t? Even if there are no more runs on store items the current run will cause problems in our just-in-time model. Do you see the panic getting worse or do you think this is the peak?

Cheaper than TP maybe?

Edit: Amazon links don't apparently

The only way to make up for his failing is now to act decisively and declare martial law now! Then, maybe, LG will know that he’s taking it seriously!

Get the testing in order. We have no idea of the scope of the infections thus far, meaning we have very unreliable data on what's coming, which is driving the panic.

We also have a country that sadly is always in fear of something. Not to say that there shouldn't be precautions taken. But people who go out and buy every bit of toilet paper are complete idiots. The panic that has fallen on this country has way more potential for long term consequences to us than this virus.

I think an Office with science and expertise that prepares exclusively for a specific event would be superior.

Glad we agree on that. Now will you agree that appointed bureaucrats and their government helpers are probably not the best and brightest we have to offer? And, trust me and quote me on this, academia isn't the answer to this kind of problem either.

I'm good right now. I'm thinking shelves should be restocked by the time I need any. I just don't understand panic buying TP.
I don’t understand panic buying anything at the grocery store. Stores are going to have to start enforcing strict limits on amounts that can be purchased if the public can’t control the panic.

Panic led by media? That's just stupid. The media didn't cancel sporting events. Businessmen did.

Business may get the credit for the action, but the legal mafia deserves the credit for turning businesses toward extreme caution over all other considerations. If I had stock in nursing homes or their insurors, I'd dump it in a hurry ... except it's kinda late.

Joevol prayers for you and your family. Very encouraging the strength that your family is displaying. Take care of your UGA bulldog wife.

The NBA saw the next Michael Avanatti suing them for billions once someone got covid 19
