NCAA granting an extra year of eligibility to every player who’s season was cut short, don’t see why he couldn’t

They haven't decided on winter sports seemingly from what I've read. But if he can (or even lamonte) then we will be very good next year and we could redshirt guys like Pember and Gaines. That's all assuming they want to. Jordan has at least a decent shot at the NBA.

I suppose you never know, but I'd be surprised if they gave basketball players another year of eligibility.
By my count, 12 conference tournaments were already completed, with all conference tournaments at least started. So a sizeable portion of teams were already done for the year and many more had likely 1, 2 games tops remaining.

I am sure if enough public and school support got behind it, then the NCAA would have to figure out a way to allow the seniors to play one more season, stipulations would have to be in place like at the school they are currently enrolled so they could figure out how to ignore the scholarship being used for that senior

I’m all for allowing this, but I think people are overreacting...most seniors across the country already had their careers over, so we are saying give an extra year to all seniors because a small percent had a game or two left, and another small percentage missed a chance to play in the NCAAT? I get it sucks for those kids, but giving another full year of eligibility because of missing on average 1-2 games seems a little crazy.

Im not for allowing this for hoops. Many seasons are already over and you can’t reward one school without the others. Also if a kid suffered a season ending injury at this point they don’t get the year back. It’s unfortunate but hoops players don’t deserve the year back

Incorrect, some of these kids have worked their entire life at trying to accomplish the goals they set. Its possible those goals could have been accomplished this year, Auburn has a roster full of seniors. The ones who are going to go pro will anyways, but there is absolutely nothing to lose by giving the seniors an extra year. If you ever played any type of sport and did so your whole life, then you would understand how those guys feel knowing they may have played their last game ever and it wasn't even in their control. Whether it was the NIT or NCAA tournament, they still had something taken away

Sorry but this isn’t any different than a player being lost to injury late in the year. It’s a bad break and hard to accept but it’s life for everyone right now. Everyone single person is sacrificing something right now and in the case of hoops players they lost a lot but not nearly as much as others. In particular the spring sports players lost much much more

I assume they would have to up the number of scholarships allowed for a year at that point and by varying degrees per team. So a team with 5 seniors would have up to 18 scholarship players but a team with none would still have 13? Doesn't really seem fair nor does there seem a fair way to do it. Maybe if it were December, but not March.

The cancellation affects the mid majors a lot more than it does the power five schools. It's a lot harder for the mid majors to go continously to the tournament. Forbes knew this team had some potential to upset some teams which would likely have put him on some power five coaching searches. Most power fives in the back of their minds are likely questioning if bringing their seniors back is worth it.

O, come on, no they don't. If they're good enough to play, they'll play. If they aren't, they'll get a redshirt year to develop and be better for it.

College basketball IS the NCAA tournament. Every player who signs a LOI hopes to play in the tourney. Taking that away from a guy forever is absolutely brutal.

Letting them have one more chance at it hurts absolutely no one.

Yes it does. Only 5 hit the floor at once my man. Lots of college basketball season was already over and a large majority had 1 more game left.
You can’t sacrifice many to benefit the few
