Weinke is a good coach. Especially a good QB coach. QBs will be much improved this year. Dunno why you are down on him.

12 of 13 (Jacob was awarded a scholarship as a walk-on though so I think we're at 13)

So we've got 3 incoming and 3 leaving (counting Jacob)

2020 Scholarships for basketball should look like this
(3) SR: Jalen, Fulky, Pons
(1) JR: Bailey
(6) SO: James, Santiago, Gaines, Uros, Pember, Olivier
(3) FR: Springer, Keon, Walker

2021 class has at least 3 spots open, could be an additional 1-3 spots depending on team success. Most think Springer & Keon could be 1 and done I also think since Bailey will have likely finished his degree (4 total years in college) he may leave "early" as well if he has a great year.

Hopefully we land at least 2 of these big time targets: Paolo Banchero (PF), Jabari Smith (PF), Kennedy Chandler (PG). With good on the court success next year though we could see ourselves in on more high rated guys. Future should be pretty bright though.

Where do you see Wideman and Beckwith next year? Benchwarmers?

Wideman was a top 150 or 200 player, right?

Did Jahmir Johnson grow up in a war zone? I follow him on the twitter machine and I swear it seems like he tweets about a young friend or family member of his that passed away like, all the time.

I see both on the team, I think Wideman (165th national player in basketball on 247) has the best chance to play. The unfortunate thing is that neither will join the team until after the football season, so they won't have the opportunity to get a lot of game time in the early season when the schedule is a bit softer.

Don't know that either plays much at all next year, both are guards and we should be extremely deep at guard. But I could see Wideman become a valuable off the bench option in his Sophomore/Junior season.

Ultimately why I personally LOVE them being on the roster is that they'll show up right around the start of SEC play and be sparks in practice since both will have ground to make-up if they want a chance to play. Should do nothing but help the team as a whole having 2 mid year additions like that coming in practicing hard as hell.

Hopefully CCW's performance to date for UT has more to do with the talent and less to do with his coaching. But I think we are moving in the right direction.

Do you really want to go there? I mean, I know what he did against Mizzou and Chattanooga.

But do we need to go back and watch GSU, BYU, Fl, MSU, UAB, Vandy, and Indiana?

The comment isn't to discuss (yet again) JG, it's to point out that -his- best season came with Weinke as his positional coach.

2018: 2 game over 200 yards, 4 games with 2 or more TD passes (5-7)
2019: 4 games over 200 yards, 6 games with 2 or more TD passes (8-5)

What responsibility do the QB's have? The delay in JG's throws ain't on Weinke, I don't care what you say. Shrout and Maurer get a pass because they were a RS-Freshman and Freshman.
Folks making the same argument to get rid of Friend....when you don't have much to work with, you do what you can.

So true. With both my father's and FIL's the honor guard and flag folding ceremony were so special. My wife and I are the fortunate recipients of those flags today. Deepest respect for our military and veterans.

The most special service I ever attended was for a Marine Corp. vet who was also a long term local police officer (Sgt.). He had passed from cancer in his 50's after a long illness and was very well known and respected by all. He and his wife were very close friends. I was a pallbearer. That ceremony was unbelievable and will always be imprinted in my memory. Two fellow police officers stood at attention by the casket throughout visitation as well as much of the service. We loaded the hearse and started to the cemetery. Police and sheriff's department officers from all over east TN came and lined the entire several miles long route to the cemetery while standing at attention and saluting as the hearse passed by. Residents and visitors stopped their vehicles dead still everywhere we went. Many got out of their vehicles along with others who lived or worked along the route, standing silently or bowing their heads in prayer. At the cemetery there was an honor guard with a 21 guns salute. As the service was concluding, our friend's End of Watch Call into the department was played on loud speakers. Then a lone bagpiper began playing Amazing Grace walking away from the area into the hills and yes, there was a Smoky Mountain mist and fog around us as he did it that day.

Not a dry eye there that day and it still brings me chills years later.
