2020 Primaries

Which is why they have their own local and state governments as well as equal representation in one house of Congress. It has no place in a presidential election.
The FFs obviously disagreed since they put it in the Constitution. Jefferson and Madison believed more power should rest with the states.

Right, but none of them had to do with low population states giving up the power to have greater influence in presidential elections.

Why don’t we do this with any other election if it’s fair? Why don’t gubernatorial elections run this way?

You mean like I don't give a rip what NY and CA think, and I have no intention of letting them decide for me? Like that? If I wanted their nonsense, I'd move there. If we had real states rights as originally approved, we wouldn't be having a damn federal government trying to pound 50 oddly shaped pegs into round holes, and we likely wouldn't be having this argument in the first place. Each state could be different, yet still work together for things like "the common defense" and interstate commerce.

OHvol is obviously not buying into compromise.
The current generation is all about getting their way. The current political climate is the same. Compromise is a word they don't understand. The FFs understood they had to find solutions everyone could live with. Imagine if everyone had insisted on having their way back then. Nothing would have been accomplished.

I'm afraid what a discussion of the Missouri Compromise would do to millenials in general. They wouldn't know which part to be upset about first. Probably reduced to a sputtering blob of jello.

The number of electors is based upon population. Smaller states do not have a greater influence, they have an equal influence.

Gubernatorial elections fall under individual state constitutions, not the federal Constitution.

We still haven't come to terms with how to count or more importantly not count illegal aliens for the basis of apportionment.

Spoken like someone who doesn't understand that the EC is about making sure every state is represented, not every person. People in different states have different needs, so our FFs set up a system to represent that. Sounds like you're just repeating the mindless drivel you've heard.

Baaa.
Pot meet kettle. All any of you people do is regurgitate what FoxNews or the NRA spews out.

Largely because they’re still pissed their chosen one didn’t win an election combined with our education system absolutely sucks concerning teaching Am Gov and Civics.

Or because it’s logical, as proven by it’s literally how we conduct every other election.

1. You have no idea what generation I hail from.

2. There has still been no logical defense to the fairness of the EC. Why do we conduct every other election using popular vote?

False, each vote in less populous states carries more weight than votes in more populous states... as evidenced by the current President falling 3 million votes short and still taking office.

That is not a reason as to why the elections are conducted differently.

You sound uninspired to offer a sound defense of a voting system that was designed for 13 colonies, yet still preservers to this day. I don’t blame you.
I've explained it, you just don't like the explanation because it doesn't end up with Hillary as President. Ask yourself this, and answer it honestly, if Trump had won the popular and Hillary the EC, would you be complaining about it? I don't think you would. I think you'd be perfectly happy with Hillary as your President and you wouldn't be complaining about an "antiquated system" claiming Trump should be President. I'm right, aren't I?

And saying Trump was a bad choice is just as much opinion. And in case you forget, Hillary lost where it mattered. That supports she was a bad choice for the party. You can argue about the popular vote all you want, but the election is not and has not been decided by the popular vote since the ratification of the Constitution.
I was just pointing out the obvious.
You accuse me of stating opinion as if it's fact. Just showing that you do the same.
The anomaly of Trumpism is precisely that so many can simultaneous reach such a wrong and harmful opinion.
History is rife with examples of brief periods of wrongly shared opinions.

You know what was different last time? Obama. Maybe after Trump's second time around both sides will see reason and select centrist and reasonable nominees, but I doubt it.
No one is ever going to accept that Obama and Trump were equal counter balances.

Geez, haven’t you figured out by now that the insane reactions from the liberals are exactly why some folks voted for Trump.
I've heard that stated about 2000 times.
If that is how a person determines their vote, they're not very sharp to begin with.

Smaller states do have a greater influence based on per capita.
They have less influence than if population was not considered at all.

Voting for Trump was an insane reaction to Hillary's email server. Sane people don't vote for Reality TV personalities that had zero public service experience.

Republican mayor drops Donald Trump for Joe Biden in key swing state of Michigan

"I remember thinking this Trump thing is insane, but when it was down to him and Hillary, I kind of said, 'Well, you are a Republican, and yeah he's nuts, but maybe he'll get better and you know he's going to lower taxes," Taylor said. "I slowly talked myself into it. 'He can't seriously be this deranged once he gets in there,' and he's even more deranged now than I thought then. So, I take the blame. I voted for him."

I think there are many like him, but I thought there would be even more, and that they would come to the realization sooner.
