There’s no tougher tournament in sports than March Madness. There have been so many dominate teams bounced early. We had a final four caliber team last year, but that doesn’t mean Barnes is a bad coach for not getting us there. All the best coaches have been upset much earlier than the sweet 16, and by much worse teams than Purdue. It’s absolutely ignorant to hold that over Barnes head.
It's a luckfest, really. Silly way to decide a winner, except it's too exciting to let go. CBB would have 3-7 game series like in the NBA if they wanted to find the best team. Or, at minimum, a double loss tourney like in baseball.

We always want to go far in the tournament, but I'd rather judge a HC over a 30+ game regular season over how they do in 1-6 games in a tournament. Both Barnes tourney teams got bounced on ridiculous last second shots (one phantom foul) ...not going to drag him for that.

Anyone who gets the Coronavirus should have a diet of only Krystal, Taco Bell, and Natty Light for 1 week. Might kill your stomach and intestines but that would definitely flush out all the Toxins in their body. There is the vaccination.

Barnes has only won a conference outright one time (1998 texas) and one conference tournament (1993 Providence) despite having one of the 10 best players to ever lace them up as well several other NBA guys over the years.

Pearl has won more with less talent. Not to mention the only time in his life he’s had a losing record was his first two years at Auburn when they were pathetic I’m virtually every basketball aspect.

Such a lazy argument. I know I’ve had this discussion with you before about Kevin Durant, so I’ll stay away.

Barnes has had 7 lottery picks in his ENTIRE career. I think Calipari has had 24 just at Kentucky.

Pearl has won with talent. CJ Watson was a long time NBA player, Lofton was school’s all time best shooter, Hopson, Prince, R. Smith, and Harris were 5 stars. T. Smith and Chism were heralded recruits as well. The revisionist history about Pearl gets old.

And the program that Barnes inherited was pathetic too, yet he took UT to the NCAAT quicker than Pearl did at Auburn.

I agree with you on that but it doesn’t make it false. If a team isn’t playing with their hair on fire it false on no one else other than the Hc imo.

Look at coach O. Nothing about him says schematic genius, but his players will run through a wall for him.

I guarantee you players would run through a wall for Barnes. He’s the classic hard coach on the floor and loveable coach off it. He has a great sense of humor and loves his players. As long as they know he loves them even during an ass chewing, it’s fine with them.

Especially when you look at the BS call at the end and that white kid nailing everything. Purdue almost beat the eventual champ too.

Pearl lost to the NCAA over a secondary violation. All he had to do was own it but he lied. Now I was a Pearl fan but he blew it. He did it. Hamilton didn’t have his back but HE IS RESPONSIBLE FOR HIS ACTIONS.

Not sure why we are digging up bones today.
I give this 1,000,000 likes. Although I will add I think his punishment was more severe than others have gotten for far greater stupidity, and what Pearl Onion did at UT was stupid

Don't confuse them with the facts.

Unrelated but recently took a drive up Signal Mtn from Dunlop for business and stumbled by a place called The Bread Basket. Sampled a couple of things and proceeded to buy a fresh loaf of Sourdough bread, a loaf of Banana Nut and Pumpkin bread and then decided to buy a fresh Coconut cake to take home for my mom's birthday. Everything I bought was great and will definitely stop back by there when back in the area.
It is also a beautiful drive up from Dunlap as well.

It's the SoCon

And? Winthrop would play us and a lot of SEC teams tough.

I trust Barnes but that doesn't change the fact that Burns could've helped us and would probably have been our second best big.

Who knows what went on behind the scenes and if he would have been motivated had he stayed at UT.....I like what I've seen from him, though.

I remember the 1st time I flew into there about 35 yrs ago. I thought we had landed in some unknown country. I had never seen so many weirdos in one place. I can barely imagine what it's like now.
It’s a weird place. But I just sat with the Michigan baseball team and a guy who is a bobsledder in the 2020 Olympics

Seriously? That's like me saying China caused the Nashville tornado, prove me wrong. If you wanted to weaponize a virus and use it to destabilize a foreign government you would first use something a little more deadly AND you would already have developed the vaccine before you let it loose. Plus China is getting hammered by the economic effects of this more than anyone and the Chinese government hates instability.

You should check out R.J. Rummell, author of the book Death by Government. His estimates are that a minimum of 272 million people (and perhaps as many as 400 million people) were murdered by their respective governments during the 20th century. A former professor of Political Science at the University of Hawaii, his website has been maintained after his passing due to the importance of this subject matter.

Your assumptions may or may not be correct. If there is a vaccine, who might have access? I don't have the answers, but I suggest everyone question the actions of government. Posterity will thank you.
