If they have the cure get ready for largest endowment in the world...UT really should talk-up its relationship with ORNL a lot more than we do. We've managed the world's fastest super-computer for ages but very few know about it. It made sense that it was a bit lowkey back when most weren't so dependent of computers but times have changed and it's something the university has access to and manages that is really worth bragging about outside of the smaller circles of academia.

The new director at ORNL has made it harder to get hired there as a UT grad. Believes there is too much academic inbreeding with ORNL and UT.
Screw him. It's a partnership for God's Sake. That's not changing any time soon. I bet you anything if that was publicly well-known that attitude would change. Tennessee reps. tend to sit on various DOE boards in congress regardless of whether they're Ds or Rs.
It isn’t directly. He’s made it harder to transition from graduate research or post-graduate research into a full time position, but since a lot of those are UT students, UT is disproportionately affected.
UT Batelle is the agency that manages the supercomputer and they are who I work for. Not truly a UT entityUT really should talk-up its relationship with ORNL a lot more than we do.
