Most major sporting and business events here have been cancelled or delayed. Most colleges have either closed or switched to online classes for the rest of the month. However, only a couple of elementary schools have closed, and most of those are only closed for 2-3 days for “deep cleaning”. Like that will do any good... I’m sure it won’t be much longer, but I really don’t understand the hesitation to close schools. The absentee rate is already ~20% anyway.

Children are asymptomatic and aren’t even getting tested with travel history or known contacts. But the schools keep saying they don’t have any confirmed cases so they aren’t closing… I get that it’s inconvenient and it means parents or grandparents have to take care of most of them. But if you wait too long, tons will become asymptomatic carriers that grandma and grandpa shouldn’t be caring for…

Lawyers and a litigious society are responsible.

I remember the days of flying on planes that weren't crammed to the gills. It was nice. Seat spacing was a lot better, too; and they didn't ransom your luggage.

If testing is up to snuff, determine who's negative and who's positive. Uninfected people go home and figure out to do with the rest.

Yeah, that's why they were dropping test kits to the ship from helicopters. Once you figure it all out, then you can decide where everybody goes. I think all Trump was saying ... and very poorly was that you couldn't just dump people off the ship. Trump has always been basically a marketeer - his language is gimmicky - not polished political speak horse crap. If that hurts feelings, too bad because his actions work better than any of his predecessors. My only question would be whether there is a stage at which people can be infected but don't yet test positive. So probably even quarantine the ones who are not infected for a period of time just like the ones who came in by plane and test again before release. The good old Reagan - trust but verify concept.
