Space **** can be cool. Gotta be a good story though
It has a good story imo. It's more about the power struggles and politics between Earth, Mars, and those on the asteroid belt and outer moons. Imagine the tension and conflicts during the Cold War and Cuban Missile Crisis and it is what you get throughtout the series. Lots of distrust, tribalism vs cooperation arguments, and subersive groups controlling things behind the scenes.

It is very interesting outside of its space aspects, which are great themselves. Tries to be realistic and true to scienctific limitations.

Some truly amazing films, people dismiss a lot of them too cause they think the Oscars are just a bunch of "hipster" types picking obscure films to be different.

Sadly the bulk of the best films don't get great box office numbers, because the majority of people want an experience when going to the theater to watch a movie (myself included). I enjoy 3 types of films in theaters. Action, Comedy, Horror good drama films I'd rather watch at home alone.
Let me know if you come across any really good ones that are lesser known. I will have probably seen a majority. I received screener DVDs of nominated movies since mid 2000s, but didn't watch every single one.

Thanks I guess I’ll have to give it a shot. Book adaptations are usually a safe bet. Don’t have to worry about the writing as much.

The show changes a few things here and there, but it's pretty darn faithful to the source.

On a scale of WWZ to No Country for Old Men, it's somewhere around The Martian.

I watched highlights of the 2019 season and we had some really amazing plays.

Some really sketchy situations and improbable comebacks.

It was a crazy year. A ton of improvement through the year.

I haven’t seen that in a while.
It was definitely a wild season. I'd say we were unlucky to lose to BYU, but easily could have dropped any of UK, Mizzou, Indiana as well. Pretty grateful to finish how we did. But also why I'm not ready to go to 9 or 10 regular season wins for this team. I think 1 more win this year would be just fine.

I went through the Georgia game last night.

Wanya Morris had a late hit at the end of the 1st half that just changed the game. It was 13-14 at the time, was 2nd & 11 and he blocks a dude on a passing play all the way into our bench. Backed up, and punted they end up scoring that drive and make it 20-14. Then our next series we end up missing a FG. They score again to go up 26-14 heading into the half.

Not saying we were moving the ball on that Morris penalty, but it was one of those "what are you doing" moments. Wasn't even a running play so no clue why he was drive blocking like that. Game totally changed after that moment.

I mean I can throw out quite a few lesser known films...but "lesser known Oscar nominated" seems like an oxymoron doesn't it?

One film I quite enjoyed that wasn't an Oscar film from 2019 was called "The Peanut Butter Falcon"

Yeah that was good. I thought old Shia Lebouf was done until I saw that.

For real, my favorite film to date of his and also my favorite Dakota Johnson film. Unfortunately as I was reviewing the list I noticed that around 2013 my "I've seen this" dropped dramatically. The stuff that predated 2013 I had watched almost all of them.

Having the kiddo cut down movie viewing a ton. It's worse now that he's in school and soaks up anything he hears/sees. So we observe the majority of film watching for when he goes to sleep. So if I can't knock it out between 9PM-11PM it's often left in the "watch later" pile lol

Think I'd still like it even though I can't stand Shia Lebouf?
Sheila is Austrailian for female, right? Oh, I always read the name as Sheila for some reason...

What are you all currently watching?

I'm working on:
The Outsider
The Expanse
McMillions
Current Curb season

Awaiting Westworld and Ozarks, both on season 3.

The amount of high quality television these days is just insane. Imo it is eclipsing film as the top medium to tell an in-depth, fully fleshed-out story.

The Outsider
The Sinner
Altered Carbon
Better Call Saul
Prodigal Son

Liked it a lot as well. Not usually my type of movie, but it was surprisingly good.

If you bring chili to the office pot luck then wonder why nobody is eating chili it’s probably because it looks like beans in water. It’s not supposed to be clear.
