Molecular testing requires the identification of proteins specific to a virus, then creation of antibodies that recognize the proteins, then linking the antibodies to an enzyme or other reagent for detection. By the way: that's kind of a difficult process. PCR is even crazier, requiring actual sequencing of the genetic code for identification.

For sure, especially me being 65. I didn’t get any details about the case at Rice, it was just mentioned when my wife and daughter got home from the airport an hour ago. Last weekend Rice emailed everybody that a small group of staff and/or students had been told to self-quarantine because one of them had been overseas though not in one of the travel restricted countries. Could be one of them or not, I don’t know yet. Son will be home for the weekend but his spring break is not for another week or so. We’ll have to see how these schools will handle things till the end of the semester.Dang, that's gotta be worrisome for you.
