Hank lauded Dooley’s offensive genius...tho he’d never been a coordinator. Managed not to destroy Lock’s career and that’s his standing achievement.

The d-line proved to be very good for a bunch of first year guys. Middleton, Solomon and Emerson. Throw in Butler and Simmons. Gooden was our best guy when Shy and Co. were here. Not to mention adding Thomas and Bailey to the room. Hence I said deepest line. Emerson was our most active lineman and he may not even start, we are deep.

Harrison is generational, I've seen enough of him to know this. Ask any coach in the state of Georgia who's competed against him since 8th grade. I didn't have to see Trevor take a snap at Clemson to know the kid was the next coming. Nor did it take a rocket scientist to see Kirby is an idiot for not putting Fields on the field, who threw for 40 tds and 1 pick in his first season starting.

Harrison might be a generational talent, but he’s not walking into a well oiled machine like Peyton or Tua or Lawrence did.

If healthy, I agree our OL should be one of the best in the SEC.

Gray hasn’t shown enough against good competition for me to consider him anything close to a Swift/NFL RB. Chandler might be laser fast, but he’s candy soft and doesn’t have too end speed to pull away.

Defense should be good, but DL still largely unproven as far as a guy that can get to the QB without having to bring extra pressure.

In general, too much youth. 2021 is when I expect a serious run at the SEC. 8-4 is reasonable and should be our floor. I’m in the optimistic camp, and think we beat one of the big four and go 9-3. Only thing that can get us to 10+ wins is a much improved Maurer or if Bailey lives up to the ridiculous hype. But if JG is starting we could be right back at 7-5.

My concern on D is losing our 3 most experienced, and probably best, players and leaders. Plus having almost all new assistants. That's a lot of turnover at once.

Pruitt and Ansley are going to either flip over aces and be proven cream of the crop or show up with jacks and that they are just fine, but human. No problem with that either. I have no mental room to believe we will be anything less than solid...god help us if we are.

Hoping we RS some DL too. Too many seniors all at once, thus causing crazy amount of DL churn if we don't. RSing Brandon Johnson last year showed Pruitt is very willing to do it.

I mean did he have a good year? But just didn’t get the respect he deserved because of the school he attended ?...thats sayin something for Bill to come and personally check you out..ya know

Yeah, but that’s kicking the van down the road one year. If Big O is as good as I think he’ll be, he could be the next great UT lineman and be gone in three. If they are Area 51 kind of projects, they could take the RS. I just don’t think this staff is going to redshirt for redshirts sake. They proved they’ll play/start a freshman with Tae and Bryce and 11.

And 64.

And 72.

And 3.

And 22.

And 25.

And 18.

Geez, the intern screwed us up big time. And that’s not even all the frosh that have started the past two years.

I would like to thank all the easy likers out there - I also try and spread the like love, and without you I would’ve never made it this far. I’d also like to thank giphy and GifJif for always having the perfect gifs for any situation. Finally, I’d like to thank Frank - without him none of this would be possible.

I’ve really enjoyed my time here on VN. It’s a fantastic message board. With that said, I’ve thoroughly researched the situation as to be 100% sure of my decision. It’s not one thing, but a feeling. I’ve made up my mind and don’t expect to ever look back - I’m going to stay on Volnation.

Depending on the outcome of the Middleton incident, redshirting Thomas is doable or a pipe dream...was never a certainty either way. It’s great to have that extra year of eligibility, but Thomas is definitely a need in 21 and it’s best that he has some game action...against quality competition. Never hurts to have an unused redshirt in case of injury.

You redshirt to have experience, leaders, and depth in 2021 imo. Not talking Omari, moreso older guys. Same reason for RSing Brandon Johnson. Though RSing young guys would be extra awesome.

I don't think Butch did enough of it. Then again, the 4 game rule has really helped coaches sell it.

Rising Senior DL that have not red shirted: Bultler, Solomon, Bumphus
Rising Junior DL that have not red shirted: Mincey

I don't think the coaching staff will go into the season planning to red shirt any of these guys. However, if after 4 games 1 or 2 of them are not getting lots of playing time, I would go to them and see if they might want to red shirt in 2020.

Just looking at that, it could actually BE the starting line for ‘21. And that’s just because of talent, not because they have to play. Wow, what a good haul!

Yeah, I get that. I see what you’re saying. But looking at the list @smokeyz1 put up, those guys could get lapped on the depth chart by the dudes from this class. It’s just that good.
