First, you make it seem like the government would use a temporary quarantine to engage in some sort of organized suppression. Absurd. Why? If people aren't at work or out and about, that's hardly beneficial for our government.

Second, it would appear that the combination of voluntary and forced quarantine (depending on severity of the spread in that area) is at least slowing the virus. The whole point is to buy time to find means of preventing further spread and finding effective treatment.

Honestly, you are beginning to sound a bit over-the-top on the Orwellian conspiracy stuff.

I was focusing on the "we the people", "insure domestic tranquility", and "promote the general welfare" parts.
They're my favorites.............kind of like 2a is to you guys.

I love the preamble also. My guess is that we take 2 different meanings from it.

China is letting one family member go out every couple of days for supplies, why wouldn't that work here?
I'd much rather be inconvenienced two weeks than to lose any of my elder family members.
Well that's mighty ****ing generous of them. How long has that been going on?
 
It would for a whole lot of people. If you are a diabetic or require a specific medicine to survive you better have a stockpile because it wouldn't be just a 2 week shutdown.

Read the book "1 second after" by Forstchen.

I guess one on my biggest questions is what are we doing about meds and medical/protective supplies produced in China? Unavailability of Chinese manufactured drugs is a problem ... and you generally can't stockpile prescription drugs. If a 90 day supply runs out at an inopportune time with respect to availability, that is a big deal for some people. Two of the prescriptions I take have been a problem for a while because the Chinese can't seem to make them without turning them into carcinogens.
 
And then people like Luther wants more laws written, due to his misunderstanding of the purpose of government.

Libs want the thought police to prevent us from doing wrong. That should take blue ink because the thought is so absurd ... unfortunately it really seems to be the case, though.

You are missing my point completely. I'm not advocating any conspiracy theory, I'm talking about our basic civil rights.

The ****ing government has no authority to detain you without probable cause that you have committed a crime and mandatory quarantines are detaining people. Hell if you were arrested for murder you would have an opportunity to be set free in less than 2 weeks.

I don't agree that mass forced quarantines of Americans fall under any of those.

You may need to sit down for this one..........some people are motivated by doing good for the sake of their fellow man.
Which is the whole root of the capitalism / socialism debate. Which should be promoted and encouraged as the better motivator?

actually there are laws in place that the government CAN quarantine you, hospitals/health departments do it all the time with TB cases and some other rare communicable diseases

Yes, I know this and I think those laws are completely unconstitutional. Now, would I lose in court? Most likely because our judiciary has pissed all over the constitution.
