Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

And you don't want to appear hostile to gay men. The truth is always the best option.
The truth is that it was known to be sexually transmitted. You can try to project your pre-conceptions onto me, but it doesn't change the truth of what I say.

You were ok with China locking up houses, arrestingnpeople on street corners, and called for quarantines here. That's extreme.
You, like Hog, project to much. I was okay with China instituting a mandatory quarantine. I never condoned anything beyond that.

LG: "Trump needs to do something. Say something about what he is doing to help with this issue. Show some leadership Trump!"

Also LG: "Omg I cant believe Trump is going to say something about this issue!"

That is not at all fair.

I have never said that Trump needs to do just "something." I've said he needs to address it responsibly and not to ignore it just because he worries it makes the stock market go down and so he looks bad.

I have also never complained simply that he is going to say "something." My worry is that the "something" is going to either just be about him, or that it is going to mislead people into thinking there is no cause for concern. Not alarm. Concern.

Fact is, we may avoid it. We may deal with it and it not be as bad as feared. But from everything I read there is no way to know right now. So he should just reassure people that the CDC and others are on top of it and that he is being briefed daily and that if there is any significant spread of the illness or cause to take steps, then he or the proper agency will give clear guidance on that.

Yes. You seem to think it's just a magical phrase, you have no comprehension of what comes with it.

How else is the government going to enforce a quarantine besides fairly locking people in side their homes and arresting those daring to walk on sidewalks?

If people break the law (which is what a mandatory quarantine would be), then they can be arrested.

Ok it should have been
LG:"OMG Trump should do exactly what I think is perfect or he is the worst thing ever"

Also LG: "OMG Trump announced he might do exactly what I want, I better make assumptions that he will screw it up"

Better?

No duh. Epidemic means widespread occurrence. You and the tweeter here just salivating at trying to stir the worst images.

What the hell is groundbreaking in that tweet?

Well they are also saying that they can no longer track the infection chains in Germany.

As to the first, I am hardly the only one to criticize his comments minimizing the issue to date. Only his sycophants have joined him in saying no big deal.

As to the second, his performance so far on this issue is the basis for my thinking that he will make comments more designed to prop up the markets and make himself look good than provide useful information.

When did I say I wanted extreme measures?
I have said that I thought it was appropriate that people known to have the virus or to have been exposed to the virus have a mandatory period of quarantine.
I think everyone agrees with that. Except for Hog - who says it shouldn't be mandatory, but that people who transmit the virus in public should be prosecuted. (we can discuss the lunacy of that position some other time)
Exposure doesn't equal infected or positive. They shouldn't have to be quarantined if asymptomatic. Safe practices on hygiene and masking Is enough along with common sense.
This is not a crisis in US. It will dwindle slowly, but that's just my take after reading more.
