Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

I think that it should be made known that if you have it, don't self quarantine/volunteer to be quarantined and spread it you will be prosecuted.

We are certainly in uncharted waters. I agree that everyone will probably eventually get it. Just need to buy time for a vaccine while minimizing economic damages.

Heh. You tell only half the story...

"The Trump administration’s request for emergency funding is woefully insufficient to protect Americans from the deadly coronavirus outbreak," said House Appropriations Committee Chairwoman Nita Lowey (D-N.Y.).

She said the request would "raid money Congress has designated for other critical public health priorities" and still falls short of the total amount of funding needed."

Senate Democratic Leader Charles Schumer (N.Y.) went farther, assailing President Trump's response and calling the request "indicative of his towering incompetence."

House Democrats said they would instead draft their own funding bill for the virus."

If Trump asked for 10 trillion they would have said the same things and put out a bill for 10 trillion and 1.

I'm hoping that come warmer temperatures the virus will die off, similar to flu season.

If it doesn't...number of cases will keep growing and growing exponentially. Almost like a monster that keeps growing larger and larger.

Common influenza has ~1% fatality rate. Corona is around ~2%. SARS was closer to 10%, higher depending on where you look. If you notice for instance the Italy fatalities they're all very elderly. Spanish flu was killing at a high rate across all age groups, Coronavirus seems to be mainly killing the elderly. I think the panic is very unwarranted but obviously there is political hay to be made by flailing around saying we're all going to die.

Maybe or maybe not but there is no harm in being prepared.

It's not half the story. This virus is imminent, vote the funds through and worry about planned parenthood later.

Based on Chinese numbers.

I'm interested to see what happens in Italy and non-Authoritarian regimes where the likelihood of them "fudging the numbers" is lower.

Your missing part of the equation. 2% of 100 people is insignificant. The question is how infectious or communicable it is. I linked and article earlier from a Harvard scientist who said it could infect 70% of the worlds population. If that’s true we are looking at 100 million dead. I have no clue if he’s right.

2% in wuhan, much lower elsewhere.

Thinning the herd is gods plan.
