Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

I'm most concerned about getting there and not being allowed to leave as scheduled.

My brother just flew from Aman to Tel Aviv to Rome. Spent the night in Rome and then to Atlanta last night. There were no hitches, but they were checking temps in airports. Hard to say what things will be in a couple of months, though. They had the trip planned for some time and started before things were really getting crazy. I don't think I'd want to take any trips on boats or planes right now, though.

I have no idea. The government of countries needs to charter a plane for these people.
All I can say is trump needs to figure out what he’s going to do l. If this goes south he’s done. He will be Monday morning QB all day. Won’t be fair but it is what will happen. He can’t blame subordinates. A clear policy and plan had to be put forward.

Anyone thinking this can be contained is foolish.

It will only be contained if it behaves in a flu like manner and disappears with warm weather or if for some other reason it peters out.

But quarantines, transportation bans, etc. Will not stop it. World is too interconnected now.
Agreed to an extent but you can slow something like this and keep it in relative check as we have here by limiting exposure. We would have effectively zero control over exposure from our southern border.

Yea I'm not sure there's some magic switch. It's a damn if you do, damn if you don't situation.

You'd have to quarantine every passenger on every ship and plane coming in to the country - not likely to happen. You'd have to seal the borders, and thanks to past administrations and congresses, that's pretty much impossible ... we probably can't even identify all the places both and especially the southern border leak. We'd also have to have a source of meds that work, assuming something that works can be developed and manufactured; and that gets back to we farmed out our med manufacturing to the country at the heart of the problem. If China.med is shut down, and you perhaps aren't sure about purity even if they are up and working, then we're pretty screwed and, Trump can't very well fix in short order fix what globalists undid. We've been warned for years on end about putting all the eggs in one basket.

Things would have to go majorly south in a hurry for this to hurt Trump. If anything it would be economic downturn that would hurt. And many predicted predicted that anyway, even before this virus. Heck, Trump will just blame the virus for any disappointment in growth numbers that was going to occur anyway. He's never wrong or at fault, as you all know.

Censorship is the reason this is exploding in everyone's faces. The Chinese government's ability to censor basic medical details because they wanted not to rock the boat because their authoritarian communism thrives on perceived stability. That's the reason the medical apparatus there didn't even have a fighting chance of containing it. China dragged the rest of the world down with it by choosing to cover it up, and now there's no stopping it. If China is also responsible for the creation and accidental release of this virus, then their government has not only failed their own people, it has become an active threat to the survival of the rest of the world. That threat should be neutralized before it gets even worse.

It's starting to get real in a growing number of other countries outside of China now. 2 weeks from now I can only imagine these numbers are only going to get worse.

A new NY Times article is already foreshadowing an economy very similar to the 2008 financial crisis by the time this is full blown.
Impact of the Coronavirus Ripples Across Asia: ‘It Has Been Quiet, Like a Cemetery’

North Korea clearly has it but they'll never release any numbers. They've already quarantined 380 foreigners(diplomats) and already had another 200 confined to their compounds for the last 30 days. It has to easily be South Korea bad(833 total cases) in North Korea and probably worse. North Korea's border with China is well known for being VERY porous.
N Korea quarantines foreigners amid virus fears

Check out the every growing number of cases in other countries.
Coronavirus Update (Live): 79,707 Cases and 2,626 Deaths from COVID-19 Wuhan China Virus Outbreak - Worldometer

It should have been done already but I have no doubt we've reached the point where we should stop all non-essential international flights to and from the US.

EXCLUSIVE: Tom Cruise is holed up at the 5-star Gritti Palace in Venice after Mission: Impossible 7 is forced to halt filming after outbreak of coronavirus in Italy

Tom Cruise has been forced to hole up in a luxury hotel in Venice after the filming of Mission: Impossible 7 was halted after an outbreak of coronavirus in Italy, DailyMail.com has learned.

The actor had been due to begin filming in some of the most picturesque and popular parts of the floating city but production was put in limbo after authorities put a total lock down in place in order to stop further spread of the deadly disease.

The halt on filming comes as Italy confirmed its sixth death in Europe's first major outbreak, as the country has 219 cases of the virus, by far the largest number outside China, Japan and South Korea.
