It must be why parents clamor to get their children enrolled in private and charter schools. US spends one of the highest per capita rates in world with a average world ranking in math, science and literacy . Good bang for the buck. Could expect nationalized healthcare to be the same.

Welcome to every government ran program .. ever . But we are going to do things differently this time with the largest government ran program in our history . Healthcare for all .

Are your beloved govt run schools making the students aware of the incredible amount of debt they're taking on? Are their high school advisors making them aware that they're coming out of college with thousands of debt and the philosophy major they plan on pursuing will make it hard to find a job in the real world and actually pay off their loan? Are they at least suggesting that they pursue a degree in something that will be able to provide a solid career or be attractive to employers?

Or are they failing them? Beating college into their head from 7th grade on like probably most of us here experienced, and sending them on to debt happily with no guidance about what to expect.

I'd wager it's the latter seeing as how we have college grads across the country acting surprised that they have incredible amounts of debt and they can't find a decent job.

Actually if you look at the numbers, our per capita expenditures on education are more in line with other nations than is our per capita health care expenditures.
So maybe nationalized healthcare would be the same.

In many countries public education ends after 12 years, the biggest difference is that in many countries kids can spend their last 3-4 years of HS training for a trade so they are employable once they graduate. For decades now we have ignored the trades in our HS so even with that HS diploma the vast majority of kids are unemployable without a college degree.

It’s almost to the point now where in a lot of fields even a bachelors isn’t enough to land a job.

I agree you with. Fewer need college and there needs to be an increase in HS training for a trade. It's moving back in that direction. There certainly has been a dumbing down over the decades, but that is in spite of, not because of public education.

We do/did have the worlds best interstate system, and the space program was the envy of the world. Fairly decent criminal justice system.

So we are now lowering the bar to ..do/did, maybe , will possibly , could have , a fairly decent , healthcare system that might, be on par with the rest of the world “If “ we just get it right this time ? Yup that’s my thinking also . That’s not even trying to factor in cost analysis on what “ healthcare for all “ means because we don’t have the numbers on “ ALL” . But I’m sure it will work out just fine with our track record in our government .
